This moblog is about breaking the boundaries of communication by using a mobile anywhere, any time. And I’m taking it to the extreme…
My Mission
Sponsored by Motorola, I’m heading to the top of Mount Everest to make the world’s highest land-based mobile phone call and text. I’ll be posting the evidence here in the coming weeks. Watch this space!
Do you have pics or video from great heights? Email or MMS your images to: everest@moblg.net
My Mobile
I’m using Motorola’s new MOTORIZR Z8, a cool slider phone that shows and records video at 30 frames a second. It’s also got 4GB of memory so I can store loads of pics and videos of my family.
My Records
When I was 29, I secured the world record for climbing the highest point of every European country in 835 days. I also hold the world record for climbing more of the world's highest points than any other person.
In my day job, I’m managing director at Head 4 Heights, the UK’s fastest growing aerial adventure centre.

Congrats Rod!!!!!!!!
Congratulations!
"If you wanna be a record breaker..."
*does record breaker theme tune*
Wow, that is fantastic, many "warm" congratulations!!!!
Can't help but chuckle to think what would have happened if you'd got up there and had no signal though. Wandering/balancing on the top of the mountain, stretching up trying to get better reception :D
Dude! That's fantastic. Congratulations to you and your team.
Puts my phone call from the top of Ben Nevis in perspective :-)
I thought I'd set that record the time I tried ringing for a pizza when I was off me nuts on acid.
Live and learn.
Well Done Rod - look forward to seeing you when you're back.
Take care coming down ;)

We are SO chuffed for you - what an achievement. Listening to your call had Kate in tears! Safe trip home...
Congratulations to you and your team, safe journey home!
Just another egotist looking for immortality. Do we really need to be making mobile calls from everest? Somethings should be sacred but inevitably we'll have cervix-cam to record the moment of sperm penetrating the egg so we'll have the earliest addition to the family fofo album. Why not free some child slaves in india instead of the this "i can climb more/better/faster than you" infantile ego masturbation.
Damn 'Doug'...
Perhaps you should make a phone call from your basement camp. You just might appreciate the outside world.
Congrats Rod!

All at Mobile Team Challenge
Well done Rod, massive achievement, onwards and upwards!
Going climbing with Guy tomorrow, see you back in the UK.
Ed
Congratulations!
And now the only places in the world you can't make a call are:
a) in a tube train
b) in flight (legally) and
c) Croydon! (oh, and a lot of hilly bits of countryside and down in the southwest, and Southwark!)
Well done Rod!
Whilst you're up there try and order a pizza, there must be some sort of record to be created for Highest Takeout.
Congratulations !! Does this qualify for the Guinness book of world records?
