I'm a tarot reader and hobby astrologer just about all the time I'm not grooming dogs. I've been reading for about ten years now and have a lovely website http://lupaloo.net created for me by my talented web designing, show producing and ever charming Irish man. We're doing live tarot chats these days which include free one card readings for all viewers and free flowing question and answer sessions. We've also set up a forum as well as a blog on the site. Come by and check us out.
The first time I dyed a standard poodle was the day after Katrina. I did it to distract myself from the horrible news with something fun and completely silly. Everyone who saw that pink dog was so amused that I kept her that way for a long time. The turquoise was just to see if I could do a different color but he's white again now.
I'm kinda with DocD on this, hence my initial comment. If a poodle was meant to be pink or turquoise then surely it would have been born that way.
There are better ways to have fun, and I'm sure the dogs would agree.
Of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion. These dogs live a life of luxury, eat very well and are groomed weekly. I use food safe dyes when I do color them and the dogs don't seem to notice there is anything different than a regular groom.
If you're going to feel sorry for dogs there are plenty who have been abandoned, left to roam the streets or who live in back yards with very little attention or care.
I don't doubt that there are well looked after. If they go to a grooming parlour and the owner wants them changing colour then it seems a given they are cared for.
Its not that I feel sorry for them, and yes there are a lot of dogs and other animals out there that aren't cared for but I just don't believe that they should be dyed.
These are MY dogs. I'm a groomer. They go to work with me every day. Of course you are entitled to your opinion and you aren't alone in it. But please don't assume these dogs are suffering in any way or that they are being harmed. I do agree that it's silly and over the top. The little one is white again tonight and will likely remain so.
I am not assuming anything. I have not said anything about them suffering, on the contrary they appear well cared for from what you have said.
My issue is not the fact they might be suffering because they have been dyed but that the fact that they were dyed in the first place. To me it is unnecessary.
And yes, as you have pointed out twice I am indeed entitled to my opinion.
