It should be noted that the second photo is not upside down. Argent is working on his looming technique.

Caine says:

Hahahahaha! I love these. The 2nd one in particular. He's perfecting that looming technique. We had a silver gray cat named Argent some years ago. Maybe it's the name, ours was quite the character too.

25th May 2007, 05:49

bronxelf says:

He's all about the looming lately.

25th May 2007, 06:05

silar31 says:

These make it look like Argent is the hardass among your cats. To which we all say "Yeah, right". :)

25th May 2007, 06:07

bronxelf says:

Well he wasn't menacingly looming. More like a gentle loom.

25th May 2007, 06:11

unrooly says:

My cat wishes she knew how to loom... she tries. She just looks cute.

25th May 2007, 06:21

bronxelf says:

The looming thing is recent. He never used to try to loom.

25th May 2007, 06:22

Sprocket says:

loving the second one

25th May 2007, 06:23

bronxelf says:

I will let him know his looming technique is being admired by an international audience.

He won't care, but I'll tell him.

25th May 2007, 06:25

unrooly says:

I asked Smedly to loom... She looked at me funny. I think she is confused. I've been planting things on the porch all day - I think she thinks I said "loam"... so she just keeps laying there not doing anything.

25th May 2007, 06:47

bronxelf says:

Tell her it's just like being a normal catloaf, just from a higher vantage point.

25th May 2007, 06:51

Geodyne says:

You realise that this means he's not just patient for the camera, he's whoring for it now?

He'll be trying to muscle in on your art direction next...

25th May 2007, 07:08

bronxelf says:

Maybe someone will pay him for it.

25th May 2007, 07:11

unrooly says:

LOL But there's no Up High for her to go to! She still thinks she's too fat to jump very high even though she's not and hasn't been for a couple years. And she wasn't allowed on the counter when Chloe was alive cuz Chloe had food she couldn't have. Sometimes she's too smart for her own good. (she puts her head under the table and reaches her paw over the table to get corn)

25th May 2007, 07:12

bronxelf says:

She doesn't have to go very high. Argent was on a pillow, maybe 6" over my head.

25th May 2007, 07:15

unrooly says:

I hope she's smarter than me, then. Cuz I can't think of anywhere she'd be higher than me... But then, usually she IS smarter than me, it just never seems that way.

25th May 2007, 07:22

bronxelf says:

Like I said, this is a new behavior for him. Maybe Smedly will figure out where and how to loom eventually.

25th May 2007, 08:01

Steve says:

Both of these are great, and we have not had a cat HL in a while

25th May 2007, 09:50

bronxelf says:

Thanks much, Mr S.

25th May 2007, 10:03

Steve says:

Welcome

25th May 2007, 10:04

SnowCat says:

As long as Lobo decides to not takeup the looming madness, I think we'll survive here. Q, however, has basically banned Lobo from the bedroom.

25th May 2007, 11:31

bronxelf says:

I'm actually amazed Lobo is still there, looming or not.

25th May 2007, 11:34

classic benevolent looming there.

well done on the HL too :)

25th May 2007, 11:41

bronxelf says:

Thank you!

And yes, that's it. He's a benevolent loomer.

Also,he was out of food in his bowl. Which could have explained a bit.

25th May 2007, 11:44

Euphro says:

Wow!

25th May 2007, 11:47

i've been giggling for the last five minutes about imagining going about my daily business, only to have a cat appear in my frame of vision, from above, looming.

in the bath; looming

on the phone; looming

hanging out the washing; looming

each time accompanied by a low note on the cello.

25th May 2007, 11:50

bronxelf says:

I think someone has to animate that sequence. I can drag at least a four minute cartoon out of that.

25th May 2007, 11:51

bronxelf says:

Euprho- the top shot isn't even photoshoppped. All I did was crop it. I don't even think I adjusted the contrast.

25th May 2007, 11:52

sounds good.

*curses inability to animate...

25th May 2007, 11:53

haha - j'adore the looming shot :oD

25th May 2007, 11:54

bronxelf says:

I have to admit, the little loomer is growing on me.

25th May 2007, 11:59

Geodyne says:

Little?!

25th May 2007, 12:07

bronxelf says:

What? Only a little of him is showing.

25th May 2007, 12:08

Geodyne says:

Cheat.

25th May 2007, 12:14

OJ says:

Aha, cats' eyes make lovely subjects don't they? The looming is a bit ominous though....it reminds me of all those big cat predator cousins.

25th May 2007, 12:36

bronxelf says:

Geo- no, just accurate.

OJ- He's very patient. He will just sit there quite still as you mess around with the camera. Other than that, the only thing ominous about him is the size of his tummy. Really, he's just a catloaf.

25th May 2007, 12:47

OJ says:

My cat's like that too. You could do just about anything with her - apart from leave her alone - and she's happy.

Catloaf! I guess that's the downside of a very still cat....

25th May 2007, 12:51

bronxelf says:

I don't call him housewalrus for nothing, you know.

25th May 2007, 13:01

Entropy says:

Looming Catloaf: Love from Above!

He's such a sweetie. I loves me some housewalrus.

Sophie just wants to stand on my chest while I'm sitting and lick my ear.

25th May 2007, 13:37

Calling to mind Snoopy's vulture imitation.

25th May 2007, 15:29

Dhamaka says:

I love these - looming and detail. The colours are stunning

25th May 2007, 16:36

silar31 says:

Entropy, that's called "Being a dachshund." :D Bandit is exactly the same way - and it is not my favorite method of getting woken up!

25th May 2007, 16:56

bronxelf says:

could be worse. Putz would just punch you in the face until you got up.

25th May 2007, 23:28

540air says:

Congrats on the HL for the top shot. I was about to make with the clicky. That's quite the "don't mess with me" look in the eye :)

26th May 2007, 00:01

Euphro says:

They are great shots; the "looming" is particularly wonderful :D

26th May 2007, 10:02

bronxelf says:

I like the idea of making it into an animated cartoon, really.

26th May 2007, 10:16

Dhamaka says:

keep coming back to the wonderful eye

26th May 2007, 17:52

superb.... love the top shot very ...'an american werewolf in London' shot ab fab

26th May 2007, 23:13

bronxelf says:

Thanks very much. Really he's just a very patient cat, and I have not a lot of light in my house.

26th May 2007, 23:24
