I just found out that Portishead have done a version of Uptown Top Ranking.. I want it! 'cos Black Box Recorder's version certainly sucks...
So true, I'm even fitting in new words to do with garden fencing and trees in my head :)
I'll have a hunt around and see if I can find that, Portishead have turned out some good things, so hopefully this wouldn't be any different.

yes the portishead version is just fine. I have a very strange version on a live DVD of Richard Thompson, where he segues from one of his own songs into The Israelite and thence into Uptown Top Rankin, and eventually back to the original song... most bizarre.
