Unfortunately most of the towpath between Burnley and Wigan is not currently open to bikes, and the organisers didn't feel the local roads were suitable for nearly 80 of us to thunder down. So they bused us to athletic grounds of the University in Preston for us to use their cycle track. We had to do 30 laps. Boring yes, but it made a change to keep a constant speed going and it was over much quick than i thought it would be. Oh and did i mention the satisfaction of overtaking the younger men? Well it happened lots of times doing this. After a quick lunch we joined the towpath to take us into Wigan, this bit was great, lots of going down the locks and lots and lots and lots of mud. It rained all day. Dunked the bikes in the canal to wash off the mud!

viv - this was saturday. The main problem with the rain i find is poor visibility, i don't mind getting wet and muddy, but the rain in my eyes makes my contact lens wobble! But is just the same as always, thanks for asking!
