The mobile blog of the BBC & Creative Partnerships Making Connections project in Sheffield, England.

Teenagers from Sheffield will be reporting on Sheffield Children's Festival and other news throughout July 2007.

The students are from Firth Park, Handsworth Grange, Myers Grove and Newfield schools in Sheffield and have been working with a BBC journalist since January 2007.

This full time news blog is their work experience.

We are students from Myers Grove School. We are on a week-long placement
with the BBC, putting our media skills into practice. We've come down to BBC
Radio Sheffield on Shoreham Street to produce journalism relevant to our
peers.

Throughout the week, 12 students will be doing a number of different
activities involving different media skills. For example, reporting,
researching, videoing and editing. We hope to produce a number of short
stories.

Also on Thursday we will be viewing a documentary about our Steel City
Shorts project - a series of films we made with the BBC and broadcast to
people's mobile phones in June - at the Showroom Cinema.

Emma's mom says:

Just wanted to say to Emma, I'm so proud of you, the way to take these opportunities that come your way. to expand your knowledge and the way you appreciate lifes offerings. Even when things seem tough you just get on with things and to see this small snippet of your week's experience at the Making Connections/BBC South Yorkshire is brilliant!! It was worth getting up at 5.30 every morning this week to see this. As for why your head has been singled out, well i am biased, but i'm glad yours has. Love you Mom
