I'm a British mathematician, been in the Netherlands for 35 years ("chercher la femme"). Recently became a double proud grandfather. Have a compulsion, but it's not secret, to want to correct miscarriages of justice involving abuse of science, see Dhamaka's plea
THE 9-11 was my 50th birthday. That's why I use it in my internet name, but English fashion, 11-9. The other part is my surname.
No-one ever expects the Spanish Inquisition
David is the son of my son Paul on the first post which I did here - David lives in Delft (as in Delft blue) and his mum is from Greece
Delft blue, blue for a boy and Greek sailors traditionally paint part of their boats or sails blue for luck. Is there a significance to the dolphins too?
The dolphin decoration is a typical motif in Cretan (Minoan) art. My daughter-in-law is from Crete, you see. The harbour is actually also a harbour on Crete. The art-work is a fusion of Dutch and Greek motifs.
But this is what they really mean: “The dolphin is a symbol of joy, of being able to go with the flow of life, free from worry. It is significant that they are mammals that live in water because water and the oceans are symbolic of our deeper emotions and the cosmic ocean of life. Dolphins play, leap, twist and turn in these waters, and so as a symbol they represent the ability for us to release limitations, and then accept and enjoy our deeper spiritual nature. Dolphins do not dwell on the meaning of life, they simply live life to the full as a part of the cosmic dance” Holistic Shop.
Actually, real dolphins also do many mean things, but that is not part of their symbolism for us humans.
Welcome to the world David! .... and hey, I just hope that your life will be like that of the dolphins .... full of joy, free from worry and will be part of the cosmic dance .... no nasty tuna fishermen's net for you ....
when I think dolphins, I can't help but think of Douglas Adams ... and I smile :)
That is very cute! You are very clever! :)
