Delft blue, blue for a boy and Greek sailors traditionally paint part of their boats or sails blue for luck. Is there a significance to the dolphins too?

The dolphin decoration is a typical motif in Cretan (Minoan) art. My daughter-in-law is from Crete, you see. The harbour is actually also a harbour on Crete. The art-work is a fusion of Dutch and Greek motifs.
But this is what they really mean: “The dolphin is a symbol of joy, of being able to go with the flow of life, free from worry. It is significant that they are mammals that live in water because water and the oceans are symbolic of our deeper emotions and the cosmic ocean of life. Actually, real dolphins also do many mean things, but that is not part of their symbolism for us humans.

when I think dolphins, I can't help but think of Douglas Adams ... and I smile :)
