Ok, so Joker was right; it was a polystyrene floating head. Our guide
thought it would be funny to swim out, leave the head and swim back
while we were in the water. He then proceeded to yell that there was a
croc, and scared the crap out of us. I was the one asked to retrieve
it, and I've got to say that even though I knew it was fake, it was
surprisingly worrying to swim towards it.

Although it does make you look insanely brave/ foolhardy in that last shot...

Holy crap you're up late Crickson!

Thanks. In the first photo I was supposed to have my arm around it, but I was treading water with my other arm, so it didn't come out too well. Plus my fists were clentched because the water was bloody freezing!

Joe; I was thinking about poor old Steve-o when I was retrieving the croc :(

nasty trick, but it did make for some good shots

(poor old Steve-o must have understood the risks of swimming directly over the barb of an animal that was already blocked in by the film crew. It's bad that he died. Terrible, and I feel for his family but he was experienced with that kind of thing and he had done the only two things you're told not to do when you swim with them)
