I'm buying a narrowboat to live on in Cambridge whilst I do a PhD. It's being surveyed today - so I hope there's nothing seriously wrong with it. If the survey's okay, I should complete the sale in the next few days.

Good luck, hope your hull & electrics pass muster. :)
(Everything else is simple to fix.)

How exciting, good luck! (And I think I know that shed!)

There really seems to be some Cambridge-moblog-narrow boat thing going on. I'd toyed with the idea of getting one myself, but decided that my hobbies just take up too much room...

Brilliant - Best of luck. A friend of mine got one to live on in Leicester and had a great time - bit cold in the winter though!

Compared to Antartica, it shouldn't seem THAT cold in the winter. Sounds like a great adventure to me!
