I am sitting in a local Indian restaurant. They offer a buffet style champagne brunch on Saturday and Sunday. That is to say, they usually do.

Yesterday we came here for brunch. As soon as we pulled into the parking lot, we were shocked. It was unusually busy. As we entered the restaurant, intent on finding out how long the wait (horrors)was going to be, we noticed a sign advertising "Free lunch for Independence Day", but didn't think much of it. I don't tend to keep very aware of what date it is, until I am typing it up for this. We were told it would be a 15 minute wait. We sat down to wait, but I began to notice that nothing looked as usual. Wait a minute... free lunch TODAY?

I went to check out the buffet items and it was a very limited offering compared to what they normally had. It wasn't really what we had in mind, so we decided to leave.

There is such thing as a free lunch, and it turns out, I don't want it.

Today, since we did not get the Indian food we were expecting yesterday, we decided to wander over and pay for brunch instead. It was quiet and peaceful, with few customers in sight.

The food is decent. There are better Indian restaurants if we want to drive farther (in some cases much farther), but I like the variety that the buffet offers, which is difficult to get when you don't have a large party of diners and don't much care for wasting food, or having leftovers. Also, all I can eat saag paneer is a good thing in my book.

Rather than push myself to get work much done today, and risk another crash and burn, I am mainly planning to take it busy. Hmm, I meant "take it easy". Freudian slip much?
