Originally from the UK, I am currently living with Spiderbaby in the sub-arctic city of Umeå in the north of Sweden.

Currently I am working part-time on a research project at Norrlands universitetssjukhus and being a stay-at-home dad. At least until the snow clears, then I'll be a pushing-a-pram-around-Nydala-lake dad. In addition I am trying to make my photography hobby pay by making some of my images available to buy from instacanv.as or from me directly.

Interesting things I read recently:

If the London Underground network at rush-hour were a city, it would be the fourth-largest in the UK.

"If someone can work out how to hook up a chocolate bar into a cell phone, that'd be pretty good, because there's about 35 times the energy density in a bar of Cadbury Dairy Milk [than cellphone batteries]". Simon Segars, ARM
Source: The Register.

I am Pavlovs_dog on PSN and would be happy to link up with PS3-owning mobloggers : )

Too Much Information: The first album I ever bought was the Fraggle Rock soundtrack. Pretty cool, eh? I was only 16 : )

Visa finally comes through

Me and Spiderbaby have recently applied for Australian working visas and mine finally came through today!

They made me jump through a fair few hoops though - I was required to take a health check in York. They didn't tell me that they'd need a urine sample for a diabetes test. It was a very hot day and well... It took 40 minutes and 6 glasses of water before I could fill that small pot!

Wedding pictures coming up : )

You're moving to Oz? For how long? Where about's are you going? I've got a job offer in Sydney, so may catch up with you after my Vancouver stint is over.

Well... Ann hasn't got her visa yet so we're not sure. Originally we only applied for visas so we could apply for all the jobs, not just the ones ear-marked for international candidates. It's entirely possible we'll end up going somewhere else.

Awww... Don't worry, we're not going anywhere yet. And as I've said before, we've no firm plans for Oz. We could ultimately end up anywhere.

*makes gesturing motion toward Vancouver*

It's a good idea to get visa approval first I guess. I've heard the Australia visa stuff is crazy though, with a full medical and whatnot.

Are you going to be around at Christmas? I'm going to try and come home this year, seeing as it's been 2 years since I was last in England!

I think it's most likely that we wont be. We really don't have any firm plans, but if we don't find work in the EU before Ann's contract expires in a couple of months I think we'll chance it in Oz.

Suran and Tina were due to move out there in September but have had to postpone the move due to an illness in Tina's family.
