"And as you cross the circle line,
Well the ice wall creaks behind
You're a rabbit on the run.
And the silver splinters fly
In the corner of your eye,
Shining in the setting sun.
Well do you ever get the feeling
That the story's too damn real
And in the present tense.
Or that everbody's on the stage
And it seems like you're the only
Person sitting in the audience

Skating away, skating away, skating away On the thin ice of the new day"

swamprose says:

so do you think he carefully plans his look each morning? stands in front of the mirror and figures out just what will 'go' with the t shirt?

we need more men like this. congratulations on your mayor.

Caine says:

Thanks, Everyone! Russ is a very nice, interesting and engaging man.

Srose, I think Russ just wears what pleases him. Labor Day weekend is a 3 day party and it was quite warm, so... ;D

E, he's a Michigan native. (I think.) ;)

He looks like a beardy Mr. Greedy from a wierd sixties time warp ( in the nicest possible way) Glad to see someone's mayor gets their hands dirty doing some work! What is labour day exactly?

4th Sep 2007, 18:57

Caine says:

Thanks, Ali. :) Labor Day: United States federal holiday that takes place on the first Monday in September. The holiday began in 1882, originating from a desire by the Central Labor Union to create a day off for the "working man". It is still celebrated mainly as a day of rest and marks the symbolic end of summer for many. Labor Day became a federal holiday by Act of Congress in 1894.

In other words, a long weekend. :D

There's a huge Wiki on Labor Day. Barbecues are prominently mentioned. :)

Keep coming back to this, the guy is just too cool for words!!

4th Sep 2007, 19:20

Caine says:

Hahahaha. I'll have to tell Russ about this post when I see him. He might like the idea of running for Mayor of London. ;D

Jane Doe says:

Does he ride a Hog? Fab pics : )

4th Sep 2007, 19:26

alicat9 says:

ah, so it's like a British bank holiday but designed for workers - cool. The August bank holiday weekend is a very popular equivalent. Generally speaking, i think beer plays a much larger role than bbq's, and going to the seaside is very high on the agenda too. Did you know, that in Britain you are never more than 2 hours from the sea? I ache for the seaside - haven't been since April

4th Sep 2007, 19:29

540air says:

Hell yeah, he'd win hands down :D

4th Sep 2007, 19:29

Caine says:

Jane, I have no idea and I might be a bit afraid to ask! ;D

Ali, you're much closer to the seaside than I am! I miss the ocean terribly. Beer is so much a part of Labor Day weekend it hardly merits a mention. The whole thing is a 3 day party. A *drunk* party.

swamprose says:

I survived Labour Day weekend.
It was so strange this morning seeing everyone marching off to work or school, all dressed up and clean.

4th Sep 2007, 22:57

Caine says:

I survived also. Technically, I think I'm still recuperating. :)

anonymous says:

We flew over Bismarck on the way to Santa Barbara - is that far from you?

5th Sep 2007, 08:16

Caine says:

Is what far, Bismarck or Santa Barbara? Santa Barbara, yes. Bismarck, no. We're about an hour away from Bismarck/Mandan.

MaggieD says:

Just catching up, this is how all mayors should dress, in fact I will go one step further and say this is how all politicians should dress :)

7th Sep 2007, 13:14

Caine says:

Hahaha! You know, that's a good idea Maggie. A very good idea! :D
