actually minkey, not a poor tiny tree--it's a new maple, growing in a great place, just doing its thing. it's time for it to turn red, and it's doing it.
I have a maple tree in the garden and got new little seedling coming up as well but they look so tiny and fragile :-)
aha, now I understand you. cultural education.
here, maples grow everywhere, and they are not at all delicate. so many seedlings, I pull them up as weeds.
maybe european maples are different.

The one in my garden is a probably over 30 years old and is a miniature version of your maples. I love the colour it's turning in the autumn and preciously nurtured every seedling hoping that one will get transplanted eventually and then usually comes Monsieur l'ecureuil and he digs out where they are...
