A 366-day pursuit in personal portraiture, presented by nige.

The challenge: to photograph, and post to this moblog, a portrait shot of myself, every single day, over the next year. Apparently, it's much harder than it sounds...

Perhaps more challenging: that i don't enjoy seeing my phizog in a photo at the best of times, and knowing that i'm probably going to annoy the hell out of the moblog community in doing this. So, sincere apologies in advance for this undertaking, but i just can't help myself. I promise to try and be creative, so you won't have to look at my mug every day.

Anyone interested in joining me? I think i'm probably going to need the company...

i spent most of the day getting rid of old photos.

going through the collection, editing and scanning took ages, but i'm so glad i did it. i've built up a mass over the last eighteen years, and they were taking up considerable space. my storage cupboard is now alot happier.

this lot are destined for the bin.

somewhere, there's a (edit) bare chested (/edit) man stood behind a door crying about the fact you just threw his memory away.

I find the discarding of old material difficult but ultimately rewarding.

Good for you. I've tried to talk Rick into doing the same, but he just won't get rid of any old photos.

Put them in an album properly.
There's nothing like actually being able to flip through a book of images.
Beats a computer screen hands down!

no way joker, virtual is the way! there's nothing worse than imposing your photo albums upon a visitor who has no connection with them whatsoever. "and here's when i went to machu picchu..."

i do like albums, but they were taking over space where i could be storing other useless things. if i want any of these in hardcopy, i'll just print them out. honestly, i feel so much better for doing it. get shredding!

JokerXL says:

Nah, book'em and shove them in the attic.
I agree with the "imposing" bit, it's just great though to sit on the floor surrounded by big, heavy books and go "whaaaa! look at the hair on that!!"

I love this photo. I too have had a ceremonial throwing away of old photo's over the past six months and putting more pictures in frames on display where I can actually see them. It was very hard as I am very sentimental and get incredible attatched to things, but it is also very liberating.
