Pre-ordered the new Radiohead album.

Radiohead are releasing a new album on Oct 10th and as has been widely
publicised the band are letting fans decide how much they want to pay for
the digital-download version of the album. I've not been a fan of anything
they've done since 'Ok Computer'....I've just never been able to get into
anything since then - so I figured I'd give them the benefit of the doubt
and pre-order the new album.

I didn't want to pay full whack or what I'd usually pay as firstly, I don't
think I'm going to like this album (so it's likely I'll only give it a
couple of listens then delete it) and secondly; they've given me the chance
to pay 1p for an album and not feel guilty about it! Finally, if I do like
it I'll go and buy the CD when it comes out in December, so I'm not paying
CD price for it now.

This is an experiment for the band and I'm happy to take part - it's an
experiment for me too. I decided I'd pay 10p (plus the credit card
transaction fee of 45p)...and I'll let you know what it's like on October
10th!

psshh. double box set alll the waay..

(although actually i'll probably just let dan buy it :)

They've been playing a lot of the tracks on the album at gigs for quite a few years now so many of the titles on the album are pretty familiar to me. There's no doubt i'm going to like it. But each to their own! 8 days!

I think it's great that artists are starting to remove some of the control from the labels - and in the process start to give some value for money.

James says:

Yes....I have a feeling they didn't want to get bummed by bandwidth charges if 10 million people downloaded it for 1 pence each!

Rich says:

well that's ballsacks, I've seen people reporting download speeds of 1000kpbs. I torrented it in the end, Radiohead don't need that much personal detail off me.
