So Cal is in flames. The air is thick with smoke and ash. This photo
is as it came out of the camera.

We are safe and still in our home at this point. Many of our friends
have been evacuated.

Making plans in case we need to go too.

Saw pics on our local news (sydney) and had a rather sick feeling for you all. There's nothing more frightening than the errie orange glow of the firelight or the waiting to see what's going to happen. Good luck with it all and don't hang around if its heading your way.

Dhamaka says:

how are the animals taking it?

22nd Oct 2007, 08:39

Tori says:

Well the refugee cats are extremely stressed, and our animals are not excited about the extra folks and critters.

Dhamaka says:

that'll be fun for you... not

Woah!
Scary times but great photo-ops!
Listen to J. they know brush fires down there, don.t hang about if the wind changes.
Good luck, take care.

JokerXL says:

oh, and take the ClickCAM with you!
Or is it already on it's way?
Did you get my Email?

22nd Oct 2007, 15:36

Tori says:

I got your email.

If we have to evacuate I will definitely remember to take it.

I haven't taken my shot yet. This is actually our second disaster weekend in a row and I haven't had time to go out and get the shot I want, so I haven't sent it off yet. I will absolutely take a photo this weekend and send it on it's way.

Just so long as you know the priorities:
Women and children and ClickCams first.

That is a very dramatic photo. I hope that the situation has not worsened.

jesson says:

Still here and keeping an eye on you. The Santa Annas that you're getting are a bit wild! Don't foreget to drink plenty of water and same for the pets- dehydration is no fun.

How's the preparations for the fire coming along?

23rd Oct 2007, 01:24

Tori says:

Definitely keeping up on the water for everyone. The smoke is harsh.

Things are okay at the moment, but the dogs have suddenly started going a bit apeshit. Hopefully that isn't a bad sign.

23rd Oct 2007, 01:48

jesson says:

Can you put them in a small space like a laundry with wet towels blocking any smoke getting into the room? Do they like music? Maybe play something calming. Chances are they're picking up on the energy of so many people being around and the stress you're all feeling (for good reason!) so seperating them away from that and taking away some of the sensory inputs will help.
