So... after another 30 minute phone call I agreed with Amazon that I would put the book in the post whilst in town today, as long as they pay for it.
Apparently if they don't the item I intend on returning within 30 days, they charge my card for the value of the book. Nearly 50.00 GBP.
Postage cost 7.95 GBP so I got this refunded, as well as a 20.00 GBP voucher for Amazon.co.uk
I would have liked more for all the inconvenience, but hey, at least this is the end of it... I hope!
