Messing about in Boats

It's one of the things that amazes me about my life that when friends say "come for a trip on my boat" we find it hard to find a free weekend until we are right on the cusp of winter. As my friend said 'may not be boating weather.'

And so today we set off cruising up the Avon to Shakespeare's final resting place, through a mist half Guy Fawkes cloud and half fog. A gorgeous still day, the river mostly empty. The whole world looks different when you move through it on the river. We chatted, drank tea and the kids got to steer. Griff piloted a fair chunk of the trip.

yes that is a delightful series. one of my friends has a boat but I've yet to see it floating.
