The space between the blocks used to be a street, now it's gated & has been made into a sort of garden - a water feature, the obligatory bamboo & this moored above.
Gives a whole new twist to the concept of the garden city.
'Gated' communities usually put me in mind of retired golfers and Stepford Wives...
are they building Emmeline's community too?
If I lived there, I would get help removing that sculpture.
hard to see what it's actually suspended from/sitting on/attached to...
first impression of this pic was "beach ball flying between two tall buildings made out of lego"
The blocks are close together, it's a gloomy little canyon & this is a neat trick to force attention into the vertical, distracting from cramped space in the human scale.
You're right though SR, I shouldn't like to live with it either...
It's attached by steel guys to the balconies. Which does give me pause in the areas of noise, vibration & wind damage, but hey.
Not certain sure Emmeline's is the community one would hope to build though. Splendid on a whole host of things but all the same, she was behind the WWI white feathers campaign, the bloodthirsty old baggage...
