beth says:

ooooh very nice.. where from?

4th Jan 2008, 17:59

Helen says:

FCUK

and it wasn't in the sale.

I fell for it, well the B&W; version, walked away... thought about it, thought about it some more... tried to find something nice that was actually in the sale. Thought "I'm not going to forget about that dress... I better try it on... hope it looks bad... then I can forget it".

So I tried it (when I went to pick the B&W; version up, I found this olive/brown version behind it) and fell for it some more and couldn't leave it. I shall keep the receipt and deliberate upon how frugal and cunning I can be when buying two pairs of boots and some jeans.

I'm not going back into the shops. Not in a hurry. Well, maybe Monsoon because I still have that voucher.

A year ago, the price would have been no problem. More fun than a windscreen.

The B&W; version actually made me think of you.

4th Jan 2008, 18:30

Helen says:

Oh, it's knitted with crochet details.

4th Jan 2008, 18:30

beth says:

YES I WANT the black and white version.

nope. i need my 50 quids. all of them. i've not spent anything since we went to tesco i don't think. heh.

4th Jan 2008, 18:32

beth says:

is it wooly? it looks kind of knit.

4th Jan 2008, 18:32

Helen says:

You need another £25 on top... as well. I forgot the bloody student discount.

Yep, knit, cotton knit. It's kind of inside out, but it works better that way.

4th Jan 2008, 18:34

Helen says:

...and here's Kate Middleton wearing it...

I did think to myself it's the sort of dress she'd wear and that you would have once found in Wallis. Oh well, I didn't rush out to buy it because she has one. I saw, I liked. That's how shopping works.

And Kate's legs are a good few inches longer than mine...

4th Jan 2008, 18:41

beth says:

tis purdy

4th Jan 2008, 18:54

OJ says:

It's nice, I've not seen that colourway. It really suits you.

Tragically, I knew exactly what dress it was and where from without the explanation. I have been magazine brainwashed.

Don't worry about Kate Middleton, she's not a real person....

factotum says:

Oh, I wonder if FCUK in Montreal has one. I suddenly NEED a dress for tomorrow night, my first public appearance as mother-in-law-elect. It seems hard to find a dress with long sleeves.

4th Jan 2008, 22:44

beth says:

i'm a bit upset you've decided to blog this one and not the one i got you for christmas which is also knit and long sleeve :( and kate middleton doesn't have oone!

4th Jan 2008, 23:16

Helen says:

Blogged this so mum can see it.

Sure this dress would be perfect for Canada.

beth says:

hmpf.

nige says:

looks pretty good, even blurry.

and the peacock feather kinda set it off too. heh.

5th Jan 2008, 00:48

Dhamaka says:

looks good!
wish you well to wear it!
I've been wanting something similar for ages - someone at a tango club was wearing one - but when I tried it on I realised it didn't suit me at all.

5th Jan 2008, 03:09

Helen says:

Heh, that was what I was hoping for.

The B&W; did not suit me particularly well, but I'm not a B&W; kind of girl ; )

5th Jan 2008, 10:59

Dhamaka says:

It's a gorgeous style and I love the .. what did OJ call it.. the colourway

and those warm colours are always good on you

seaneeboy says:

Lovely. The look of concentration sets it off a treat :)

5th Jan 2008, 12:56

factotum says:

I did rush out this morning and buy one of these dresses. It's a little lighter and sheerer than I was expecting, and the only colourway they had was a brighter purple than Kate's with a purple bodice. Perhaps the occasion calls for such exuberance. I'll try to take a picture.

5th Jan 2008, 18:26

Helen says:

You must take a picture!

I have selling power too, not just Kate. International no less : )

Sounds like Canada's colour range is a bit different. Enjoy the evening.

Jane Doe says:

Helen's on commission. Or is really Kate Middleton. Or something

5th Jan 2008, 18:34

Helen says:

Not Kate. Kate did not make the sale to me. The dress did. Although she did inspire me to order some black pump style shoes to go with it (so I don't have to wear the boots).

Fussier than I would ordinarily go for, but dead comfy.

Now, I need an excuse to wear the dress. Hum.

5th Jan 2008, 18:38

Jane Doe says:

Are you back at Uni yet? You'll be going to Law Society balls soon, no doubt...

5th Jan 2008, 18:41

Helen says:

Monday. They had a Christmas ball. I didn't go. They wore elegant dresses, but I think the resemblance to a ball ended there.

I might just wear it every day.

5th Jan 2008, 18:44

factotum says:

I can see wearing this dress every day; it's very comfortable.
(just posted a photo of my very purple one)

5th Jan 2008, 19:23

Euphro says:

Very nice; the colour really suits you :)

5th Jan 2008, 19:58

Geodyne says:

That is gorgeous....wonder if they have one near me? You and Factotum could start a new moblog tradition!

7th Jan 2008, 11:45

Euphro says:

There is an FCUK on Market St in Cambridge :)

7th Jan 2008, 11:57

Geodyne says:

Fount of all knowledge, you. :)

That shows you how much I know about the fashion establishments in my own town, doesn't it?!

7th Jan 2008, 12:03

Helen says:

Heh, can definitely rely on Euphro.

I don't remember the FCUK in Cambridge, but it's not a shop I go to much.

I liked the Jigsaw, for browsing.

7th Jan 2008, 16:41

factotum says:

Well, someone has to get the black and white one, Geo!

7th Jan 2008, 18:05

There's something bizarre about the perspective on these pictures; makes you look like you're levitating. That's very cool.

11th Jan 2008, 15:59

Helen says:

I am levitating.

11th Jan 2008, 18:05

Well then the perspective is clearly rubbish! He he.
