"And as you cross the circle line,
Well the ice wall creaks behind
You're a rabbit on the run.
And the silver splinters fly
In the corner of your eye,
Shining in the setting sun.
Well do you ever get the feeling
That the story's too damn real
And in the present tense.
Or that everbody's on the stage
And it seems like you're the only
Person sitting in the audience

Skating away, skating away, skating away On the thin ice of the new day"

Thanks! Well, the house is across two streets from us, kind of kitty corner, so I was shooting from a good distance and a weird angle. :D

Yes, all I have right now is the kit lens, 18-135mm.

:) Is it the 50mm still giving you trouble or a different one? Your first series of shots with the 50mm were impressive.

I'm a little worried about how I'll cope once I actually have more than one lens. I'm so used to my point 'n shoot with it's limited options. I have such a long way to go in understanding my D80, I'm not very worried about getting into new lenses at the moment.

I do love the kit lens, it delivers. At the same time, I don't want to get *too* used to it, or stuck to it; I do want to be able to cope with different lenses sometime in the future. Oy, a person can think this stuff to death!

For what it's worth, I think you've been doing good work with your new lens; but I do understand the frustration when you wanted your shots *just so* and it doesn't work the way you want.

Thank you Caine. it is the 50mm.... which I won't stop using till I've sorted the problem. Anything but low light is no problem but it was given to me for the low-light benefits.

It's not even that I want the shots just-so but that many times my shots with the 50mm are below the standard of the kit lens and that should not be happening. However I've noticed before that my photography suffers when I'm feeling below par and I'm wondering if it could really be that simple and nothing to do with the lens at all..

Anyway, I'll take it to tango tonight and we'll see.

I hope you get it sorted, D. Good luck tonight. :)

Colourful ones, Taniwha. It's nice to see such bright colours in the midst of monochrome winter.

getting there thank you :)
After all that I think it was more the space I was in than anything else

Ah. That happens to me. When I'm just not feeling "it" or I'm feeling down in general, I never seem to be able to take shots I'm happy with. Love your latest shots. :)
