This is my personal blog, not a venue for saleable images. In fact, because it's here that I share things that are important to me with the members of the moblog community, photo quality's not my priority. Events, occasions, achievements, thoughts, trips and experiments - you'll find them all here. Contact me for the development version of my photo portfolio, for a selection of saleable images or visit my dance photography blog or my website for cuttings. And remember that all photos remain my copyright unless I've specifically said otherwise.

"The grand show is enternal. It is always sunrise somewhere; the dew is never dried all at once; a shower is forever falling; vapour is ever rising. Eternal sunrise, eternal dawn and gloaming, on sea and continents and islands, each in its turn, as the round earth rolls."

Guess what this is (it's a night scene)

Euphro says:

Is it foggy?

6th Jan 2008, 22:35

Dhamaka says:

it was, but that's not the reason it's like this

6th Jan 2008, 22:36

Euphro says:

Well, judging from a what the K850i does, it's a shot taken with flash with some sort of particulate matter in the air. I will make a second stab at snow and then give up - I can't make out any thing else apart from a tiny light in the lower middle of the shot :)

Caine says:

Rain? It's pretty, whatever it is.

6th Jan 2008, 22:41

Dhamaka says:

no flash but thanks for trying

6th Jan 2008, 22:41

Euphro says:

That's weird: the exif info says that it was taken with a K800i. Is there something about the Viewty that LG are keeing from us? :D

6th Jan 2008, 22:51

Dhamaka says:

oh- I was using both, must have got confused. Still no flash though.. Sprocket will remember
I've revised the heading... and I've never had this with my k800i even with rain and snow

6th Jan 2008, 22:52

Euphro says:

Ah, that explains it; I thought I was going a bit cuckoo :)

6th Jan 2008, 22:54

6th Jan 2008, 22:54

Euphro says:

The EXIF data says that the flash was used. I've just posted a similar picture of mine for comparison :)

6th Jan 2008, 22:56

chocolate says:

is it snow?

6th Jan 2008, 23:13

Dhamaka says:

Euphro - I saw it, thanks. Will wait for Sprocket who should remember better than me how it was taken. But I don't normally use flash because I hate the way it washes colours out

Chocolate - no

7th Jan 2008, 07:36

Euphro (NLI) says:

Good, but you can also check or yourself in the exif data (right-click on the image if you are using the Opera browser): the camera says that the flash fired in this case, which is the simplest explanation :)

7th Jan 2008, 07:42

Dhamaka says:

I'm not but could check the exif data of the original image if I wanted
I trust you though Euphro, although I'm surprised to have forgotten about the shot because it was taken well before Boxing Day (which means this years tsunami anniversary took more of a toll than I thought)

7th Jan 2008, 07:56

Euphro (NLI) says:

I've been doing some double-checking: in the exif data if flash equals 0 or 16, the flash didn't fire. If it equals 25 it did. The camera may have defaulted back to flash after it was switched off and on again, or if you popped the battery out for some reason - I'm just guessing. The exif doesn't say when it was taken, only that it was modified yesterday (probably when you uploaded it). However, I don't think that the image means that there is anything wrong with the camera.

7th Jan 2008, 08:11

Dhamaka says:

Carpe and Boet - hehe

Euphro - that's possible, I've never had this effect before or since but then I really do avoid using the flash. Sprocket should remember. I still prefer the SEk800i to the viewty and often carry them both around just in case

7th Jan 2008, 10:31

Sprocket NLI says:

Ah yes, I remember this well – it's my blood sample after too much Tizer.

7th Jan 2008, 12:24

Sprocket NLI says:

Brrmmmm Brmmmmm

7th Jan 2008, 12:25

Dhamaka says:

do you remember the flash Sprocket?

7th Jan 2008, 13:50

Sprocket says:

"The Flash" as in the scarlet speedster, or "the Flash Sprocket". . . the flash, the flash . . . ??

*scratches head* ouch! *puts down fork and starts scratching again*

I thought it was the headlights.
