OJ, you asked what was there before. these buildings are slated for destruction. They house an art supply store, small businesses, and mostly artist's homes and studios.

this has been fought and discussed passionately in Toronto. The very reason the area is attractive is being killed by people who think they are going to live somewhere 'cool'. irony abounds.

Thanks Swamprose. Oh I see the irony. There must be warehouse districts in every city that's happened to - artists move in, make the area fashionable, developers follow, make it unaffordable (and bland).
