Were you on the Sandstone Trail? They've joined up lots of walks so you can more or less follow the edge from Frodsham to Whitchurch, should you feel so moved.

Yes, it's the sandstone trail. I've not been moved to walk it end to end but have explored some nice sections whilst the days are too short to make it to Wales for proper hills. ;)
