Absolutely LOVE this picture babs, have set it as wallpaper on my iTouch so see it ALL the time but still can't get enough of it....
He's very photogenic
(0;
thankyou Jane
*blushes
I wish i could take photos like that
Just get in position and concentrate on preventing too much camera shake !!
it's hard when you're trying to restrain your amrs from waving around madly!!!
*laughs*
It's all to do with control.
I studied at the ninja school of not jiggling when taking photographs.
It involves nailing your feet to the floor prior to the onset of music.
what about the arms???
how do you stop them waving around uncontrolably??
my arms just twitching at the thought of a concert
*stare at left arm which is jerking slightly*
Well, you could always take up knitting . A practical and productive cure. Then you could knit a really long scarf and have someone wrap it a round you while keeping your arms by your sides.Previously having set up your camera on tripod in front of the stage. Then, with a simple nod of the head you could press the camera button with your nose.
I can knit already yay!!
that means the only thing I have to do is knit a realy long scarf, and buy a tripod...
and wool, i don't think the several balls of wool i have are enough
*rummages in back of cupboard .
there yer go.
it's some i had left over from the
tent i made for last year's festivals.
I always jiggle far to much to take good photos so I rely on Babs.
You would never guess it to look at her but Babs regards taking photography VERY seriously
Maybe that's why she is so good at it?
I only have a little fuji but it's adequate for my needs.
It is not the size of your equipment, but how you use it that matters ;-)
it so is.
very true!!!
and you seem to use it well!
I try my best. A lot depends on the subject of course..
it does help if the subject is...um
*thinks of right word*
...interesting???
*hangs head in shame*
interesting,
musical,
do-able,
photogenic.
any of those words would do really .
The only thing my fuji finds hard to cope with is any sudden movements.
The result of that is invariably fuzziness.
try taking photos of him with a really cheap camera..
what did you do to get that one then? must have been hard...
do-able, that made me giggle
hard,? oh no. just elbow your way to the front, or, do what I do and dance .
It's cropped . Not his hair, the pic.
*wonders how jen heard "do-able "
as thought had thought it and not said it outloud.
...and it's good in low light situations.......the camera...
My goodness, the blog is in danger of turning into an amatuer photography club. We'll meet once a week and take turns bringing the biscuits.
ooooo!!! I'd come!!
maybe I'm physic!! :P
and i usually rush up to the large space where the gigs take place as soon as we get past the ticket man, to er, reserve space for, um, me.
*whsitles in an idle fashion*
keep those arms a swinging and you'll always have room .
twitch a bit and shout randomly.
works for me everytime..
shout what exactly? :P
just a couple of swear words
the odd, "oi what you starin' at".
a few random mutterings interspersed with a grunt.
oh...
*wonders what change there would be to normal vocabulary*
it comes from being devonian...
...........it must be very similar to yorkshireian. or not.
*wonders if this could be a record for blog . commenting under 3 lots of pics simultainiously.
*thinks so.
I know what you mean, I'm having trouble keeping track!
Also just broke the blog as I tried to post a comment too quickly after the page had loaded.....
it does that sometimes.
have you ever tried that thing of
putting in lots of .......and making a line run of the edge and thus breaking the blog in that way.
I've done it twice.
*giggles.
*is sad bugger.
it may be similar to yorkshirian...many farmers there?
maybe we should try and see how many pictures we can talk under at the same time!!!
...or not
the record may be down to the fact that I'm very clingy and talkative
*grabs random persons leg and starts muttering partly to herself*
*coughs*
clingy and talkative eh?
it's a pre-requisite of the membership to blogdom that is.
Lots of farmers in yorkshire ,I have dallied in the dairy /arable areas meself.
I'm not insured to talk under anymore than 3 pics at a time. Otherwise I loose my no claims bonus.
and get off my leg.!!
oh was that your leg??? sorry...
*realises leg*
I have, er, 'moments'.
and tavistock's one of those places where everyone has a friend who is a farmer...
and don't loose your no claims bonus!! I think three pictures is enough for anyone to cope with really!
*rubs leg to regain circulation.
"farmers friend"
good name for a type of ale that is.
He must be a very nice man , yon farmer from tavistock. How does he find the time to talk to them all and go about the day to day business of running a farm.
Maybe he has a trusty sheep dog who does the books for him, they are said to be very intelligent.
*wonders if it can drive a tractor also.
collies are very intelligent. I have two myself but they don't really fit the rule...
well, my farmer friend is really a farmers daughter but it counts!!! and she is very nice!!! and she has alot of collies!!
hows your leg now?
...is better thankyou.
there was a sheepdog on the farm where I worked,
Although there were no sheep.
There were cows.
They were herded accordingly.
By the sheepcowdog.
cumbye
have you ever been penned in a corner of a field by cows? I have, it's terrifying...luckily my dog enjoys er...herding them...
what do you call a dog that rounds cows? cowdog?
I wanted to work on a farm when I was little. was it fun??
is cumbye the thing you say when you want it to go a partcular way?
we have a lunatic cocker spaniel who is pretty useless around cows but in her element "flushing" birds.
We were chased by a field full of cows in Yorkshire. The dog and I got away pretty sharpish but my OH and son were not quite quick enough............
cows are lovely things and if they corner you you only have to go BOO! and they run away.
similarly, if they chase you, just go BOO! again and run at them. They are naturally curious. Now, before the blog turns into an episode of Country File I shall stop .
cumbye? ?? oh i see, no idea about the dog thing , I wandered off singing and got out of the door before i got to the "ah "bit.
Oh look is that Jack Hargreaves over there?
*realises has shown age
Now of course not, it much be John Craven.................
was Jack Hargreaves in Emmerdale??
no, 'course not.
It was Jack Sugden.
Got mixed up.
age related memory loss.
*pretends to know the two people stated*
...yes?
did anybody watch the country files summer diary by any chance? I'm guessing it was the devon thing everywhere right?
I hardly ever see it but did once and was intrigued to learn that Devon has hedges which are recognised as being the oldest in Europe I believe it was. I remember that because I thought it was simply marvellous.
*realises people are staring so carries on being stupid on blog.
No Jack Hargreaves used to present "Out of Town", you MUST remember that........
I missed the devon Country Files, I seem to recall they were on every weekday morning and I had to WORK..................
was he a little man with glasses and he sat in a shed full of country things and such.??
thats him, smoked a pipe too....
forgot the pipe.
will have to put ice pack on scrolling/typing finger tonight.
Tell me about it, I always find frozen peas quite handy...
no peas but i do have some fish cakes. I'll bandage one on each side.
aw...so did you miss the interview then??? well, obviously, but it was a really nice one...Matt baker was doing the interview...
*has a flashback*
Took me a while work out what interview, I can't remember what I typed a moment ago let alone a day ago..........................
oooooh, sozzy....i kinda skipped the fish cakes thing...must have been too enthusiastic to write back...
Completely understandable but recommend the fishcake thing, old joints needs all the help they can get.
That's my old joints, not babs'.....
Jack Hargreaves was interviewed about fish cakes????
how very odd.
Oh no, we've confused babs, its commenting under all these posts that does it - quick make some tea and crack open the Boasters she needs some sustinence to revive her...................................................................................
*quickly makes a cup of tea*
I don't have boasters...not too sure of what they may be...
*senses own destruction coming*
should we explain?
....about the posts?
and I forgot...
*gives tea to babs*
You must lead a VERY sheltered life, Boasters are wonderful biscuits made by McVities with lots of good things so they seem good for you but also chocolate so they taste wonderful.
Boasters are beyond a biscuit.
well, my parents are the sort who buy 'morrisons own' so probably wouldn't look twice at mcvities...but I'll buy some myself if they're THAT good!!
and how is babs now?
babs is ok thankyou.
the mention of boasters brought me to my senses .
as if.
look out for Boasters on BOGOF it's bound to happen ;-)
*glad to hear babs is back with us again
*thought had been here all the time .
*wonders what bogof is.
*feels certain will be informed in due course.
Oh I'm disappointed with you: Buy One Get One Free of course................................................
ah, I see.
do you guys like marmite? I've recently discovered some rice crackers sort of flavoured with marmite and they are sooooo adictive!!!
just felt like saying it while we're on the subject of biscuit based things.
marmite is the work of the devil.
*quotes HPPP*
why must you hurt me in this way harry?
*finishes quote*
so you don't like it then?
oh well.
it's just a tad ......can't think of the word......erm..............well, I imagine the scrapings from the underside of a wooden hulled sailing vessel might be getting close to the taste.
only my opinion .
if we all liked the same things , where would we be. ??
looking at a world marmite shortage very likely.
was just about to post about marmite but I have been completely flummoxed by the last post, far too serious for me to cope with........................
......i believe old new blog is alluding to the photography theme we had going on a bit back.
*panics at thought of seriousness sneeaking into blog and goes to secure the doors and windows with all due speed..
*takes a big stick just incase.
I have a stash of big pointy sticks if you want any, and buckets...
*mumbles*
I was saving the sticks to throw at mcfly if i ever got the oportunity but....
*finishes mumbles*
this is a greater cause!!!
what were the buckets for?
thats a long story. it's an ongoing thing with my friends on bebo.
too cut it short, they usually come out when my friend and her boyfriend start getting sickly, which is often.
ah,
yeah, 'ah' pretty much sums it up perfectly.
me and my friends are a little, whats the word, peculiar.
no wonder you fit right in with us lot then ;-)
*grins in a peculiar fashion*
nice to know that is!! :D
*goes off to repel boarders with pointy stick and bucket on head with eye holes cut out.
are they any use?
if you need any more pointy sticks, buckets and even bananas for any other mirelings i have plenty more!
*musters army.
*gathers all pointy sticks, buckets and bananas together*
where do I put them?
*looks around
I think the silliness seems to have scared them off already, did not need supplies.
Oh well, banana anybody?
yum yum
.
*sits on upturned bucket .
*removes other bucket from head.
*unpeels yummy banana
*mmmmmmmmmm
*eats a banana too*
well, I'd better put these buckets back in their cupboard
oops, sorry babs!!!
I want to keep the one with the eye holes.
I can put it on my head to sneak into gigs unrecognised in case the superhero things don't go down too well.
Might keep a few pointy sticks too.
as long as they're not the ones with the names of mcfly carved into them...
and of course you may keep the bucket.
*sighs with relief.
it's just I think they might have sussed the balaclava disguise .
you could try masks, or have you already tried that too?
hmmm....
*wonders what other disguises there could possibly be*
Wonders if not wearing customised t-shirts,
or standing right and the front signing along to ALL the words,
or dancing like a lunatic and especially not providing "the crack" for LOTS might help disguise our true identifies?
.....it's a crazy idea , but it just might work.
but how we restrain ourselves?
we all take our cameras and try to take great photos without a flash ;-)
AND nail our feet to the floor
don't forget to use a claw hammer otherwise it's a bugger .getting the nails out at the end.
.......the worst thing is video. oz the blood rushes to your shoulder, or at least it does with me ,being petite, as I have to hold the camera up with arm at full stretch to see over peoples heads.
you call your blood oz?
I'm not that attached to mine, maybe I should be!
oz...
well it's creative i guess.
nailing of feet sounds painful...does really string sticky tape work at all?
I have the other problem with height...
the "c" fell off "oz" .
*hands it over.
*wonders what the other problem with height is.
*vows to try gaffer tape to stick feet down in future.
*wonders if Adam always has a spare roll.
maybe jen's problem with height might be the same as Cressi's "problem" with height. Causing the young master to appear EVEN smaller in her presence ;-)
(you sure you two are not related?)
I'm sure we're not related...
i don't have any cousins
I would say that i'm about the same height as er, 'the young master', i was thinking more of the poor people stood behind me in concerts...
don't worry,
we hold our camera's up at arms length and jump up and down a lot .
(0;
at the last one I kept on apologising to this lady stood next to me as i was certain i was blocking her view...
she got a bit exasperated with me after a while...
*wishes for the embarrased icon of mire*
