Its a bit of a sore point for some aboriginals, marking the day of whiteman settlement/invasion, depending on your point of view

JL- Dead right. It doesn't matter if you're in the city or country, close to the Stolen Generation issues or not, there are those who mourn White Invasion and see Austrlaia Day as celebrating the unlawful settlement of land in the custody (NB: not 'owned') of the Aboriginal people.

Australia Day is becoming more a celebration of what's good about the country with respect for those who don't see the day as anything to celebrate. It can make for an interesting emotional tensdion in those who care about others but try to see the best in situations too.

Good excuse for a party though!
