As a teenager I knew everything....I'm still trying to figure out when I forgot it all.

I've found out so much about my family this week. My grandparents went into full on storytelling mode while I was stealing their photos.

One story was based around the final photograph, my Grandad is the man with the yard of Ale. He was on his way to work a night shift when his Father in Law called him and asked him to meet him at the club (wherever that may have been).

My Gramps arrived and found he'd been entered into the drinking contest which he went on to win, have his picture taken for the "Chronicle" (this picture in fact) and then carried on pissed to his job!

You just wouldn't get away with it today!

These are an ace set of pics, I think it was Taniwha who said that this generation of children must be the most photographed and most chronicled ..... I know that I have only 2 or 3 pics of me as a child, but I have hundreds of my children .....

these are lovely. evocative.

I've been buying old family photos at yard sales. I like to imagine what they really are about.

Ace! Top shot, I love the fence. About 1960 I helped my dad build one like that. haven't seen any like it since the early 70's. 3rd one with the odd tent/building in the background is fantastic. I think the ball she's holding is red, with a very fine crosshatch herringbone pattern in it, Inflated with a needle on a bicycle pump. These pics are dredging up memories I didn't know I still had.
Last photo is just wonderful. by the suit fashions and the haircuts, I'd guess late 40's, early fifties. Are these pics dated?

You've just reminded me to get back on to genealogy sites and research the family again. I lost all the info I'd gathered before in the "great crash of '07"
(send me the Hi-rez of that "yard of Ale" picture and I'll iron out the creases for you)
