Oh my word, now this takes me back to an art project I did at school ..... I went to a catholic girls grammar school (I passed the 11+ but came from a very working class background) ..... my particular bit of art had God depicted as Marx and Christ as Che Guevara .... the adoring crowds were crowds of revolutionaries ..... I nearly got away with it but one of the nuns cottoned on .... too late, I got an A at 'O' Level :) ..... still think that there is an element of christianity and Islam that reflects a bit of Marxism ....
I can picture you doing that Maggie D. I'm pretty sure this graffiti is new - I'm wondering who did it now...
We've had a fair bit of christian street graffiti around our area (S.E. London) the 'Ya get me' tag is as far as I know just another way of saying 'you know what I mean' :)
Oh really? It's the first time I've seen Christian graffiti.
I know what "Ya get me" means, I just wasn't quite sure whether it was quite local to us. Having said that, I was at a meeting with someone from London a while back and he kept saying it every other sentence, like a tic, so I should have realised it wasn't Liverpool slang.
We have had christian and islamic graffiti appearing around the area for a while, nothing particularly artistic though ....
Heh - it's a matter of debate whether or not that's Xian graffitti - after all, the churches don't like Liberation Theology for the same reasons that bosses everywhere don't like rights for the proles...
I think it's pretty clearly Christian iconography, whether or not it emanates from a church is debatable.
