3rd Mar 2008, 20:27

nige says:

*looks around

3rd Mar 2008, 21:24

MaggieD says:

Lou, just emailed you ...

Just checked tickets are on sale now, I am happy to book and pay for 3 teams on my credit card now (I have checked with the Tate and they say that is OK) and then get the money back from you guys on the day .... is that OK with peeps? ..... think we have to move fast on this as it is a popular event ....

4th Mar 2008, 17:08

nige says:

works for me maggie. thats largely how we did it last time, and it does make it easier. thats very generous of you. i'll have my money at the ready. will you accept the total sum in copper coins? i'm hoping to weigh your team down on the day...

*laughs an evil laugh

4th Mar 2008, 19:37

fine by me Maggie - and thank you for organising it SLG

4th Mar 2008, 19:48

MaggieD says:

OK, will go ahead and book 3 teams (that's 12 places) tomorrow .... hope this is OK with you Lou, I know you started it off :D, but I know you are so very busy yourself and not in the best of health, just thought as things were moving so fast (the Tate said that a third of the tickets had already gone in the first day) that I would be very cheeky and just jump in and get things paid for .....

4th Mar 2008, 19:52

MaggieD says:

Nige: I will only accept payment at the end of the day ;) so yes, quite happy for you to pay in copper coinage ....

4th Mar 2008, 19:58

MaggieD says:

Just wanted to add that SLG is the driving force behind this .... wouldn't have happened if she had not flagged it and got people interested ..... :)

4th Mar 2008, 20:26

hear hear

4th Mar 2008, 20:37

nige says:

cheeky!

4th Mar 2008, 20:41

MaggieD says:

Yep, I know I have been extremely cheeky, hope I can be forgiven, this is SLG's call and I have been very presumptuous .....

4th Mar 2008, 21:34

nige says:

oh, i was talking about the copper coins. i know who's running the show here ; )

4th Mar 2008, 22:16

SLG NLI says:

Thanks Maggie that is really helpful, apppreciate it :-)

Have sent you two emails

5th Mar 2008, 10:18

kel says:

Aw, I'd love to but a) my camera phone is the only kind of digital camera I own! and b)I'm at All Tomorrow's Parties that weekend.

damn it! enjoy! I will make it to a moblog london event one day!

5th Mar 2008, 10:54

nige says:

i've emailed a few more people.

it's worth mentioning that once tickets sell out there is a free event that runs alongside the main one. it's exactly the same as the paid-for day; the only things missing are the "free" beers afterwards (riiiight) and the showcasing of the winning photos. we'll have our own meet in a bar / pub afterwards anyway, so there's no great loss for those who want to attend, but miss out on buying tickets. come one, come all, i say!

5th Mar 2008, 11:31

Helen says:

Not a chance I can be there I'm afraid, I shall be in the midst of exam hell.

Good luck!

5th Mar 2008, 12:14

Carpe NLI says:

In for a penny and all that, count me in.

5th Mar 2008, 13:50

MaggieD says:

Thanks SLG :) ..... OK, have booked 3 teams, as far as I am aware these are the peeps that have said yes to tickets (in no particular order) : Minky, Harimenjaro, Spike, Nige, HarryW, Sprocket, Dhamaka, Phoenix, Carpe, Dave and myself ..... so sorry SLG and 540 can't make the day :( .... I know Geodyne who is away at the moment might well want to be included .... anyway, this is how (I think) things stand at present ..... there might well be drop outs (hopefully if people do drop out they will let me know asap so we can get replacements) ..... I reckon it will be a real fun day (if last year was anything to go by) ..... :)

5th Mar 2008, 18:15

Viv says:

ooh have fun - would like to come - but sure there will be 12 real enthusiasts - might just join in the none serious .... we'll see - thanks for the email Nige

5th Mar 2008, 18:31

SLG NLI says:

Thanks for that Maggie. It looks very much like there will be 12 of you. Like Niges idea too, though wont be there for the beer afterwards. :((

5th Mar 2008, 19:02

MaggieD says:

Oh, Viv, it would be great if you could come (and Beth and Dan, I know Helen will be in exam hell at the time) .... so wish we were able to offer you all accomodation but we are also taking advantage of the children being at uni and having the top floor redone (Dave is doing it himself so the timescale is somewhat problematic :( ...... and as to the 12 real enthusiasts, Dave and I would be happy to give up our places to 'real' Mobloggers .... we would be more than happy to join the non - serious team (I had no idea that one existed until Nige mentioned it) .... I think I would be better suited to a 'non serious' team :)

5th Mar 2008, 19:31

nige says:

hang on, have i missed something? no SLG / 540? how come?

i hope no one misunderstood what i wrote. there is nothing about a non-serious team afaik. i just meant that once the tickets are sold out they open up a free event for all those who could not get tickets. it is identical in every way except for the beers and showcase that i mentioned. we don't have to worry about tickets running out is all i'm saying.

as for taking the whole thing seriously, i'm competitive, and you won't beat that out of me (hehe) but it's just a really fun day, and very relaxing.

anyway, there's a strategy this year....hahahahaha

5th Mar 2008, 20:20

MaggieD says:

No worries Nige, do understand, just hadn't heard about the free event before you mentioned it and 'non serious' is just a light hearted way of differentiating the two ..... so there's a strategy, is this by way of a cunning plan (a la Baldrick) ? .....

5th Mar 2008, 20:38

nige says:

indeed there is...heheh.

nah, not really, although i think we all learned alot from last year. i'm sure we'll approach things differently, and thats a good thing, you'll see ; )

5th Mar 2008, 20:43

taniwha says:

This would have been a lot of fun and I would (could, maybe might) have been in except I'm in Krakow that week returning that evening. Terrible timing. Next time perhaps ...

5th Mar 2008, 21:24

MaggieD says:

Taniwha, as far as events like this go, there will always be a next time :) .... and hey, Krakow, watch out for the gnomes, last time I was there, my most lasting memory was driving out of Krakow down this 'motorway' lined by an endless line of garden gnome sellers .....

5th Mar 2008, 21:33

Helen says:

Before I reached the end of that last sentence, I thought that Maggie was going to tell us that Poland uses gnomes as traffic cones.

5th Mar 2008, 21:39

MaggieD says:

Helen, well, as it happened, it was a little like that, the road out of Krakow was lined with garden gnomes, and when I think about it, it was just like a row of little gnomelike traffic cones (this was in the late 80's / early 90's, would love to know how it is now) .....

5th Mar 2008, 21:50

nige says:

i still want to know why the organisers have bailed. come on!

5th Mar 2008, 22:19

FilbertFox says:

Am i too late to be included? And BB as well.

5th Mar 2008, 22:27

nige says:

i emailed you earlier foxy.

5th Mar 2008, 22:28

FilbertFox says:

yes, but had to wait for the return of BB before i could make a decision. Poor bloke, he is sick of the sight of London

5th Mar 2008, 22:32

nige says:

ah.

5th Mar 2008, 22:33

nige says:

boo and hiss, i say. damn shame dude.

5th Mar 2008, 23:31

taniwha says:

I'll let you know what I find Maggie. The gnomes story reminds me of driving out of Seoul past what seemed to be an endless run of wedding dress shops. Marriage is big there perhaps.

6th Mar 2008, 16:40

JokerXL says:

We're in!
Anja and I will be booking our hotel this weekend, we'll make a proper long weekend of it so plenty of time.
See you's all there!
:-)

6th Mar 2008, 16:52

MaggieD says:

Yay!, maybe I should book another team ticket .... in fact I will because I have friends who would take one on if there is a big drop out (as long as peeps let me know a good two weeks in advance) .... teams (and team names) can be sorted out closer to the time .....

6th Mar 2008, 17:32

MaggieD says:

.... that is assuming 095,FF,BB,Joker and Anja all want tickets and be part of a team ....

6th Mar 2008, 17:37

JokerXL says:

That will be most satisfactory Maggie, I'll be in touch shortly for details.
X

6th Mar 2008, 17:45

SLG NLI says:

Hands Baton over to Maggie.

Thanks Maggie :-)

6th Mar 2008, 17:49

nige says:

couldn't have been done without the MD or the SLG.

so we have four teams now then, yeahahahah. there may still be more because i emailed loads of people.

6th Mar 2008, 18:41

MaggieD says:

Er, hang on, SLG, does this mean I have RESPONSIBILITY!! ... this could be a bad move ....

6th Mar 2008, 21:37

OCD Sprocket says:

Oh my FOUR teams. Fantastic!!!

7th Mar 2008, 06:22

nige says:

and JC1000000 has confimed that he's up for it now too, so i reckon we may even get five or six. hey, even mat said he may just make an appearance, so check that out. haaar!
