Proper furnishings, very nice staff &, as befits a Cheadle tea rooms, there were plenty of oatcake options on the menu.
A sign in the window promised home cooking from locally sourced ingredients, unfortunately it was too soon after lunch to try anything more than a (liberal) slice of Victoria sponge & a decent pot of tea.

How wonderfully, classically British!

Oh my. Staffordshire oatcakes. I miss Staffordshire oatcakes soooo much. It's not the same if they're not fresh.

Scottish oatcakes are pants. Even the berry ones that are full of sugar and are basically middle-class hobnobs.

Aw, give the Scottish ones a break - they're a different beast & for different purposes. The berry ones are coeliac hobnobs & I can't praise them highly enough for finally giving my gf friends something to dunk.
They're not as versatile as Staffs oatcakes, not nearly so filling either...

Joker - this is what we have in place of Brown Cafés, I think...

Yes, I see the similarity, no carpets on the tables though.
