"And as you cross the circle line,
Well the ice wall creaks behind
You're a rabbit on the run.
And the silver splinters fly
In the corner of your eye,
Shining in the setting sun.
Well do you ever get the feeling
That the story's too damn real
And in the present tense.
Or that everbody's on the stage
And it seems like you're the only
Person sitting in the audience
Skating away, skating away, skating away
On the thin ice of the new day"

Oh dear. Know you were more than half-expecting it but grim for you anyways...
Thank you, everyone. It was very hard. Arlo's having a rough time, so he's getting all my attention at the moment. The dogs are jealous.
I was just looking at your pictures from the day they came home, can't believe it's only just over a year. Poor lad. Hope Arlo will be ok, keeping fingers crossed.
Thank you, Puddikat. This pic was right after we brought them home. They were so tiny. I'm paranoid about Arlo right now, but there's no reason to suspect he'll develop a brain tumour too.
Arlo's been having a hard time this past week, with Nash getting weaker all the time, and he's been pretty emotional since last night. I slept in my studio last night, and he climbed down from his condo and slept with me. I tucked him under my hoodie today and took him out to take a few pics. That was a little more excitement than he wanted, so he's busy rearranging his accessories and bullying his 'furniture'. Makes him feel better. :)
Yeah. I knew, but that didn't seem to be enough to make me lose hope until the last couple of days. It's rotten losing one so young.
So sorry to hear:-( I have been hoping he would pull out of it. Know that you did more than most people would have. How many other american rats do you know that get treats from the UK:-)
Thanks, Looker. I never found myself so distressed that a heart was so strong. He fought against dying and I gave him what help I could. Arlo is really stressed, and I hate to do it, but he has to go back to the vet to have that tooth trimmed, frelling thing is out of control.
Oh, I was just about to pick up on my catch up on your blog ..... so sorry to hear this, hugs to you and Rick and a cuddle for Arlo ..... and I will be giving Trip a tuna treat in his memory ....
Thank you, Srose, Maggie and Spiderbaby. Arlo's still upset, and acting out a bit. It's just going to take time, I think.
