We were doing something else when 70,000 Sikhs walked by, celebrating the 308th year of the Khalsa.

Blimey, that's quite the turnout. Was it a belated Vaisakhi ceebration?
Love the last one - all those distant dots of colour remind me of confits...
(Edit) You hadn't put up any text when I started wrtiting...

Geez, H, not much gets by you. Here it is more a celebration of the Khalsa, with elements of the Vaisakhi thrown in. Right now I am missing a great free meal thrown by the Sikh community downtown, mostly because my bike is gone and we are into our second day of a transit strike. no subway.

the phtojournalist nikon) told me 70,000 people and I believe him. it was massive.

I cannot keep up with Toronto. for starters... Japanese Children's Day, Khalsa, the Hindu Devali festival, Korean Thanksgiving.

but this was great. enormous. gigantic. entirely overwhelming. and a complete surprise.

No great feat, SR - I chanced to drive past a Gurudwara en fête on the day of the festival itself. I've never seen anything on that scale here over here though. Nice catch, even if you can't make it for the food.

That last shot reminds me of the old Sony add with all the multicoloured bouncing balls! What a great event. Looks like they had a nice day for it too :)
