A 366-day pursuit in personal portraiture, presented by nige.

The challenge: to photograph, and post to this moblog, a portrait shot of myself, every single day, over the next year. Apparently, it's much harder than it sounds...

Perhaps more challenging: that i don't enjoy seeing my phizog in a photo at the best of times, and knowing that i'm probably going to annoy the hell out of the moblog community in doing this. So, sincere apologies in advance for this undertaking, but i just can't help myself. I promise to try and be creative, so you won't have to look at my mug every day.

Anyone interested in joining me? I think i'm probably going to need the company...

During ID week I continued to take a photo a day because I felt i'd be cheating otherwise. So, here is this last weeks catch-up (and todays picture) in grid form. Originally conceived as a catalogue of personal scars, I had to change my gameplan after discovering I only had enough war wounds for three days of photographs. Well done to me. Anyway...

Top left: Scar one. Obtained falling off the top of a 10ft slide when I was about 5. My nan - who was looking after me at the time - was beside herself, bless her.

Top middle: Cycling.

Top right: Todays World Record attempt at stuffing as many cotton buds up my nose as possible. This was just a warm up. I later broke the record by two buds, but it was nullified as there was more than a two metre trailing wind on my WR attempt.

Middle left: Scar two: Procured by roller skating in the garden after my Mum had told me not to, because Dad had just removed an old window frame that I had smashed by accident a few days earlier. I had blamed the smash on a kid down the road, and my Mum knocked on his door and had a barney at his entire family for the event, leaving before any of them could get a word in edgeways. I thought i'd got away with it, but a few days later as i lost control of my skates, went tumbling, and put my wrist through a shard of glass on the broken window frame that Dad had placed on the floor, I knew karma was a bitch. This was about a fortnight ago.

Middle middle: Scanning negatives.

Middle right: Riding in cord shorts. Recommended.

Bottom left: Scar three. Haven't a clue how I got this one.

Bottom middle: I just wanted to see how tightly I could tie my hood around my face.

Bottom right: See top left.

Bottom middle: I think you could have tied it tighter if you had tried a bit harder.

I like hearing about people's scars. The stories are nearly always interesting.

maybe we need to do a scar blog. let everyone bear their war wounds, and the stories behind them.
