Very nice with red-currant sauce.
EDIT not quite as good as reindeer with lingonberries, but close
Not these girls - they grew up being bottlefed & playing with the kids in the garden. Never name anything you may want to eat later - I learned that the hard way with Walter the pepper plant...
Nah, I'm with Gordon on this. I'd rather eat something that I knew had been cared for. Not that I've actually done it, mind.
I've caught/gutted fish, rabbits. pheasants and the like though.
And was sorely tempted to eat my killer shrimp. one of the best meals I ever ate was prawns we netted ourselves in Co. Kerry. I'm afraid our very expensively hand-reared ones might have tasted a bit muddy.
How would you feel though, if you went out with the gun & they rushed up to you, all big, trusting eyes & pleased to see you. Fancy loading up & cocking the rifle into a face that sees you as part of her herd? Just getting the gun into into position would be hard while they strained to wind their necks about yours & nuzzle & lick & sniff you in welcome. Nah. there's cheaper, better protein sources than Kiki & Deedee...
Heartless old carnivore, me. Though killing Bambi would be pushing it, i grant you. Would happpily strangle next-door's chickens, but that's another story.
Goes back to revising the Arabella pig-killing scene...
Heh, they're just too soppy ever to see them as anything but pets & I've known them since they were being bottlefed, which doesn't help.
