My Mum (north Staffs) reported seeing two swallows on friday, so that a summer does make, if I recall correctly..
the swallows were flying over Pembrokeshire about a week ago
"One swallow does not a summer make, neither does one fine day; similarly one day or brief time of happiness does not make a person entirely happy" - Aristotle
;)
(Edit) This is a ways north of either Pembs or Staffs. They've been around for something over a week though this is the first I've seen.
Nice capture.
My favourite seasonal saying is "N'er cast a clout 'til May is out", closely followed by dire warnings about summer bedding and frost protection
We're probably on more or less the same latitude in that case, JD. My Nan wouldn't let me out of vest & liberty bodice until June. :)
(Was secretly thrilled with this despite its many flaws - he was a good way away, yet thanks to the miracle of a proper lens, can actually make out his forked tail. In hi-res, there's even a hint of colour on his face. Am still pants with the new camera but do love it ever so.)
I spotted one yesterday, so that's official then? I can get me flip-flops out of storage?
