No it doesn't seem to get hot at all. The other thing I noticed is just how quiet the thing is. No spinning HDD and the fan is barley audible.
Screen size is nice, not sure I could live with 7" tbh. Higher Resolution too IIRC.
All-in-all a great little device which will be prefect when they start selling longer lasting batteries.

Yes, the fan is just about audible. I love my 701, which has replaced paper for all meetings for me. It does get hot, though, after about an hour - so much so that I wouldn't be able to keep it on my lap. That's obviously been solved for this version, which is great :)
