nige says:

of course you should. i take it you haven't procured any leads then?

12th May 2008, 22:03

swamprose says:

thief has won, so far. cn't help looking at every bike that goes by.

have learned a lot in my search. going to buy a beat up righteous bike, but am moving slow, always hoping.

12th May 2008, 22:12

any person who has had their bicycle stolen has the right to steal another, or they should have. If this was law, the world would be a different place.

12th May 2008, 22:13

nige says:

i'd prefer it if no one ever stole anyones bikes.

but if that didn't work, you might be onto something.

12th May 2008, 22:23

Joe says:

nice shot dude...love the movement.

12th May 2008, 22:24

swamprose says:

I disagree. Being ripped off means that it stops with me. I do not want to live in a society where stealing is justified in any way. Much as I hate what happened to me, I'd rather have a rightous ride.

12th May 2008, 22:34

I know exactly what you mean, and having been the victim of a few cycle thefts, I have thought this one through - it does need a bit of karmic influence, but a true cyclist would never steal a bike, and you'd have to be pretty unlucky to get ripped off by a small independent bike shop, so steal from those who would steal from you, the secondhand shops which sell goods of questionable origin, the chainstores who want to put the little guys out of business etc.

Dhamaka says:

very nice shot... surely more of a spinny though?

I was told that the average person in Holland looses or has stolen 7 bikes in their life. There were places I was told only to leave the bike if I wasn't bothered with the idea that if mine disappeared I could just 'borrow' someone else's in the same spirit.

The only bike that I've had stolen was my brother's first racer which went missing whilst being repaired at the bike shop on Kingsland Road near Dalston Junction...... Telling my brother what had happened was one of the most difficult and horrible things I've ever had to do.

Any readers using the shop in Dalston have now been warned....

pandairo says:

cheers nige! :D address sent

going back to the bike theft issue; i was recently given a bije by my next door neighbour, which i thought was really cool and hence i gave him a bunch of ps2 games in return.
said bike was then stolen from our back yard several days later.
bike thieves are not nice people.
