I make things on the web, mobile and in the actual world.

I've done lots of bits and bobs over the years, and right now I'm mostly working on this.

I enjoy speaking about things I like, most recently this. You can email me if you'd like, and I'm on twitter.

This is a clip of an episode of Dexter streaming over the network using the simple center from the PC, and the Canola app on the N800.

It's pretty much seamless. It does all sorts of neat stuff of course, and the only real difference between this and the N810 is a keyboard and Wimax support.

Oh great, I'm hungry now.

Dexter titles always make me hungry.

I think Len Corby was playing with one of these a while back - they look great wee devices... and with Skype you can call people too... does it have a camera?

Alfie says:

It *does* have a camera, I've video called with it, making it the first device I actually ever have done that with aside from a webcam. It's a crappy VAG cam, but fine considering.

It's primarily an e-book reader for me, with the interweb/email and then games. The N770 was a much more difficult device to use, it was the first version of the maemo OS, and you had to manually add repositories, and know linux commands to install/fix things. The N800 is easy enough for someone who knows *nothing* about how computers work to operate efficiently.

As I said, the price difference is about £200 between this and the N810 (I picked this up for under £100 on ebay), and the only salient difference is a physical keyboard and WIMAX support.

Cool, But probably still a bit niche for wide market appeal...

But under £100 you say? Blimey...

I've been toying with getting an iPod touch for a while, but it is so restrictive. I pretty certain that I am going to get an N810. I might be picking your brains in the future as to what to install!

At the moment I like the look of:
A palm emulator to run some old programs
Maemo Mapper

Anything else you can suggest?

The only difference between the N800 and N810 is that the 810 has a slideout keyboard and Wimax support, basically. And the price, the 810 is nearly £200 dearer.

FBreader lets you read books; Ive basically stopped buying printed books

Evince document reader reads the CBR format so I've also stopped buying comics.

Get a Stowaway bluetooth keyboard too, it pairs straightaway and works perfectly.

Get a nice fat 4/8GB card too for storage.
