OCD Sprocket says:

Caine says:

That's a little red-breasted nuthatch, right? Awwww, they are so adorable. I love watching them fly, their erratic patterns. I only see the white-breasted here.

OCD Sprocket says:

I like them cuz they hang upside-down on the trees getting all the wrigglies out of the bark

15th Jun 2008, 11:29

Caine says:

Yep, they are fun to watch hanging upside down. Here, they fly to the feeders, grab a sunseed, then take off for a tree. They wedge the sunseed in the bark so they can break open the shell. It's fascinating to watch.

smart little buggers

I watched a documentary the other month where a finch was using a twig with his beak to poke the bugs out of the bark that he couldn't reach

and they say "bird brain" heh??

Caine says:

Wow, that's great. Yeah, most bird brains are pretty brainy. I love watching them.

Never seen a real one, "in the feathers" as it were.
Looking out the window this morning at breakfast and I counted seven different species all at the same time, fussing round the feeders.
