28/6/08 Stolen Earth Season Finale part 1

(WARNING: If you haven't seen this yet and intend to watch it be warned there are spoilers on this post and on the comments thread.)

Something for everyone in this house. DD loves anything and everything
Dr Who. BS is a huge fan of Davros and was longing for his return.

Me, give me Torchwood! Yay! A Jack/Ianto moment! Then Jack with his
massive weapon in his hand and bad ass Ianto in a pink shirt (with a his
massive weapon in his hand). Tell me international Mobloggers, was my
SQUEEEEEEE heard all around the world?

I'll be in my bunk...........

Twiglet says:

Bit of a shocker, the Doctor starting to regenerate....What a cliff hanger!

28th Jun 2008, 21:11

OCD Sprocket says:

So many clues to muse over - the hand, the ring the drums. It's going to be a good one next week.

28th Jun 2008, 21:35

Twiglet says:

Yeah and I thought the Dalek Khan was Harrison from the Mighty Boosh.....

28th Jun 2008, 21:44

OCD Sprocket says:

proof!

28th Jun 2008, 21:47

Rich says:

yeah, tonight was awesome.

28th Jun 2008, 22:48

Twiglet says:

I read on one of the forums that next weeks finale, Journeys end, is going to be 65 minutes long and that there will be a bonus trailer for it tomorrow on BBC1 just before 1 pm. We'll be out but apparently the trailer can be picked up on the official site after screening....

28th Jun 2008, 22:54

That was a muthafkin Davros and a half.

I have been waiting from the end of last series for this moment. He will crush the inferior races beneath the mighty wheel type thing of the survivors of the Kaled race.

28th Jun 2008, 22:59

OCD Sprocket says:

I reckon Donna is actually The Master

28th Jun 2008, 23:11

Rich says:

haw. I don't.

I think we're all going to be rather surprised next week. Especially when the Doctor dies.*

*guess, not spoiler

28th Jun 2008, 23:41

Rich says:

And yes, best davros ever. Needs moar screentime, because hell yes.

28th Jun 2008, 23:46

OCD Sprocket says:

but they have his old hand, so can regenerate him from that

29th Jun 2008, 07:27

taniwha says:

Agree very good episode. Totally non-stop action. Is the regeneration a red herring though?

And like Sprocket says ... why the shot of the hand earlier on? It's like when a character is seen putting a gun in her bag you know someone is going to be shot later.

29th Jun 2008, 08:51

Twiglet says:

We are the last outpost when it comes to home entertainment so are currently re watching it on our VCR yes our VCR.

As DD would say Rich, this episode is *made* of awesome!

Sprocket: I love Donna as the Dr's companion which is surprising as I loathed Catherine Tate's comedy shows. I much prefer her to Martha or Rose as unresolved sexual tension gets on my nerves in this show.

Re Davros: Some considerable years separate me and BS so our memories and expectations of Dr Who are at odds. We rarely agree about TV especially sci-fi which I don't really like, however this Davros rules! He rocks! He satisfies in a way The Master failed! (*My* Master was Roger Delgardo...)

Seems the actor underneath the mask and make up is the same creepy guy who was in "In out of the rain* a particularly creepy recent episode of Torchwood.

I love RTD, everything about him is wondrous!

29th Jun 2008, 08:51

Twiglet says:

Taniwha: We flushed out some internet spoilers.... The hand was mentioned....

29th Jun 2008, 08:53

taniwha says:

oh really? I won't do an internet but will plant some seeds in my 8 year old's head ... he'll enjoy speculating too.

29th Jun 2008, 08:54

Twiglet says:

Thanks Carpe. I personally don't mind spoilers and trailers but I know lots of people do. You see some right fights breaking out on the forums about this.

30th Jun 2008, 08:51

Helen says:

Lots of people keep telling me they reckon Donna's the Master.

I reckon Rose is just as likely, as she's gone well weird. But I don't know anything.

4th Jul 2008, 12:11

Twiglet says:

One thing is certain Helen, The Master did not die.....

4th Jul 2008, 12:13

Helen says:

No, he's still drumming.

But I don't think John Simm will be back :(

4th Jul 2008, 12:15

Rich says:

Donna's not the master. I mean, I'm just as in the dark as y'all (which is nice!) but A) that would be stupid B) I saw a side-by-side comparison of the Masters' ring and her ring from last week which started this hypothesis and they're totally different.

Hypotheses include: She's another fobwatched Time Lord, possibly Romana (his previous Time Lord companion, played by the current Mrs Richard Dawkins, the wonderful Lalla Ward, hubby of course being one of this years Superfluous Celebrity Cameos)
although this doesn't fit with that line about her being "something new", which could be evidence for her being another concept from the books being brought into the parent series - She's either a sentient TARDIS (the books did the Time War first, and better, and gave birth to all kinds of groovy concepts like N-generation sentient timeships (one book had a future timelord whose TARDIS was stuck in the shape of a 1960s policewoman) or an ancient Time Lord weapon Rusty invented for the book he wrote called an N-Form.)

So my money's on one of those. Or something very like.

And according to rrrrumoursz, the Master will be back for one of the specials next year.

4th Jul 2008, 13:17

Twiglet says:

God I just love you superior DW knowledge Rich. Your mention of Romana made me remember that one of the DW companions used to go to the same church as my mother. Her name was Mary Tam (sp).

I'm delighted to see that this thread is now carrying an ad for DW ringtones.... Can I bear to live without my Elvis Costello though...?

4th Jul 2008, 13:29

Helen says:

Yeah, The Master's ring is green, whereas her ring is a big black lump. And wouldn't the Doctor have noticed it? I mean, it's huge. Although he has proved his lack of observation skills when he didn't clock Martha's engagement ring.
