And Howdee!

It's my cowboy fez. :)

Well, okay. I borrowed it from Heidi. I'll get her to wear it next and get her to say her greeting....

I will admit though, people from down south tend to do that to me. You seem nice enough though. :)

Howdy to you too :D Great accent :)

Currently a couple of people from Texas are scaring the holy &^$@!# out of me, so I guess I can see your point.... Probably I seem nice only because I'm in no position to make public policy. :)

One of these days the woman and I will make it back up to NY. We'll try to warn you beforehand.

Euphro: Thanks! My accent is milder than many because for years I was trying to fight it off. It can be kind of a drawback in the job market, because around here, people associate a drawl with unsophisticated, unintelligent hick-dom.

I've spent thirty-five of thirty-seven years in Georgia, though, and there's no way to undo all the damage. Not that I'm really trying to fix my accent anymore. I feel I've made my point. Whatever point that was.

If you guys want a real example of the species, I'll record my mother talking next time I see her. :)

Funny, but I have no idea how Wombat escaped with NO accent at all.

1st Apr 2005, 16:26

Nearly thrity years of Public Television? :)

Also, neither of his parents have Southern accents.... Whereas, my mother lived primarily on farmland and in small towns in Central Alabama/Central Georgia and my father is from the tobacco-growing Cumberland Gap region of Tennessee (though most of his accent was destroyed before I was born by his career in the Army).

Also, most of Wombat's stay in Georgia has been in the Atlanta area, which has basically been a bastion outpost of the North since the Great Bagel Invasion of '91.
