Became a little 'browned' and crispy on top, as somehow I managed to
switch the oven up to 250 without noticing. Still was lovely (of
course).

neel says:

Go Quorn!

10th Apr 2005, 00:44

Helen says:

Even though it is teeny weeny mushrooms? And therefore spore-based?

10th Apr 2005, 00:46

neel says:

Spores?!

[ neel washes his keyboard out ]

I was just trying to be supportive of the lasagne!

10th Apr 2005, 00:50

Helen says:

All gone now.

There are spores all over, we are surrounded by them -- all the time!

How do you sleep?

10th Apr 2005, 00:51

neel says:

...

I don't!

10th Apr 2005, 00:57

bronxelf says:

(what's quorn?)

10th Apr 2005, 00:57

Helen says:

Aww.

But you do. You know.

10th Apr 2005, 00:58

neel says:

Barely - not with the spores out to get me.

Quorn is an evil concoction of the Fungi People, bronxelf, meant to destroy us all!

10th Apr 2005, 01:00

bronxelf says:

okay so it's sort of like the mushroom version of Textured Vegetable Protein.

I'd probably like it. :) I like mushrooms.

It looks tasty! :D

10th Apr 2005, 01:01

Helen says:

Yes it is... but I like it better than TVP. Although I can eat TVP mince frozen. Yum. But that'sbad.

10th Apr 2005, 01:02

bronxelf says:

Hm. I shall have to see if Whole Foods Market carries it here. Sounds really interesting. Thanks for the info! :)

10th Apr 2005, 01:04

Helen says:

Quite alright.

I don't tend to eat many meat replacement products -- I like vegetables, but Quorn is good.

10th Apr 2005, 01:06

daz says:

Wow, that means I could eat it, too! :D

10th Apr 2005, 02:51

Helen says:

Well, not really because it has all gone.

10th Apr 2005, 11:55

neel says:

Daz: your avatar kicks all ass.

10th Apr 2005, 12:09

Helen says:

Unfortunately it makes me think of Danny Baker. Arrrrghhhhh.

10th Apr 2005, 12:12

Joe says:

mmm quorn...looks like a very tasty lasagne...I always over cook mine because I like the top crispy :)

10th Apr 2005, 13:02

daz says:

neel: Thanks! :) I recently discovered that my nickname is, apparently, also a laundry detergent, and decided to make the best of it. :)

10th Apr 2005, 13:24

Helen says:

It didn't really detract from it. But a bit less brown would have been good.

Mmmm lasagne.

10th Apr 2005, 13:24

daz says:

Oh, I so love lasagne. Make some next week, I will.

10th Apr 2005, 13:25

Joe says:

We're going on holiday for a week tomorrow...I intend to cook as little as possible...

10th Apr 2005, 13:28

daz says:

Oh, where are you going? Uni starts next week, so consider me jealous. :)

10th Apr 2005, 13:30

Joe says:

staying in the UK, we're going to hide in the middle of sherwood forest...

10th Apr 2005, 13:34

daz says:

Cool! :D

10th Apr 2005, 13:44

beth says:

centre parcs?

Euphro says:

We had quorn lasagne too, on Friday, and quorn bolognaise last night. It's great stuff :)

11th Apr 2005, 14:56

Euphro says:

I just like good food :)

11th Apr 2005, 14:59

Helen says:

I am a vegetarian.

Went off meat completely. The smell of cooking bacon is the worst smell in the world, especially first thing in the morning. (I had a housemate that went on the Atkins, that was hell.)

11th Apr 2005, 15:15

daz says:

Ovo-lacto vegetarian here, but very tolerant of other people's food choices, as long as they respect mine. :)

I'm not quite lactose-intolerant, but for some reason, I can't drink "straight" milk without getting sick, so I prefer soy.

11th Apr 2005, 15:17

Helen says:

I like rice milk. I just don't like milk and I can't overdo milky products or I get sore throats.

People often expect me to have extreme views on their food choices. I don't really care what people eat. I don't tend to upset myself over dead cows. I'd just rather not eat them myself. I'll wear them on my feet and steering wheel. Hmmmm.

540air says:

I'm not fussy about eating meat, but I have to say that Quorn is delicious!!
Bizarrely, it is my dinner tonight.
H, that looks a lovely lasagne, but mine will be the "bung it all in" method. So we will be having Qourn with baked beans, onion, garlic, plum tomatoes, passata, beer/wine and anything else that may be in the cupboard. Along with some rice or pasta probably.

Anyone ever noticed how it tastes even better the following day?

rassilon7 says:

puts hand up I am in the veggie corner too.

Eat dairy products but milk makes me feel sick too.

11th Apr 2005, 15:26

Euphro says:

It does! Goes great in a lunch box! :)

11th Apr 2005, 15:26

daz says:

How I wish it was sold around here :(

11th Apr 2005, 15:28

Euphro says:

You do have quark, which we can't get here!

11th Apr 2005, 15:28

Helen says:

Can't we? I've seen Quark... somewhere.

11th Apr 2005, 15:30

Euphro says:

I haven't looked recently. But it seems to be everywhere in Germany "Quark mach stark" (apologies for crap German) and so on :)

11th Apr 2005, 15:33

Rich says:

Yeah, rings some kind of crazy bell.

We made a chili lasagne last week, it were well fit. Lasagne, but with the ingredients of fajitas instead. or whatever the ones you wrap up are. Utterly lovely stuff, spicy, and the flatbread (I remember not names) went all dumplingy, but dumplings with loads of cheese sauce and refried beans and deliciousness over them.

11th Apr 2005, 15:36

Euphro says:

Yum!

11th Apr 2005, 15:37

Helen says:

Enchiladas? Ooooh yes. Lovely. Yum. And it's such a long time to go before it is dinner time.

11th Apr 2005, 15:39

daz says:

The slogan was "Milch macht stark" (Milk makes you strong), but hey, close 'nuff! :)

I love quark... I don't understand why you don't have it. And oh, the dinner-plate sized eyes of my American host mother when I explained, "You know? Tastes like sour cream, but has WAY less fat in it??" Heh.
