This is shot from below the 125th Street 1/9 Train station, (downtown side.)

Since Chenav brought it up, I will explain. There are not many places where the subway is elevated in Manhattan. There are a few. But not many. This particular location is unique in that the subway goes above ground for this one stop only, and then goes back into the tunnel again. The reason why is because there is water directly below 125th Street. The water table is very high here. So it is easier to put the train above ground than rely on a pump system.
