The shift key keeps sticking Arrgghh! (which means that Firefox keeps opening a new window every time I click a link, and the mouse scroll wheel does weird things). I've tried fixing it, but it seems to be more than dirt (the return key is acting up too). Hurry up new keyboard...

seaneeboy says:

The control key on mine has been knacked since our neice dribbled on it about a year ago. Can't be arsed to get it replaced.

seaneeboy says:

Hehe - with a lot of swearing until I got a new 5-button mouse... so now one of them is my ctrl key :)

spongevid says:

my keyboard is rubbish too!! the "o" button hardly works, nor does the enter button.

Helen says:

You can get replacement keyboards for laptops.

28th Apr 2005, 14:13

spongevid says:

you can?! ooh.but i know the reason my buttons don't work is because the rubber that presses the sensitive bit it wonky and doesn't hit it..if that makes sense.

Helen says:

I managed to replace my iBook keyboard. The whole keyboard bit came out and a new one was put on.

seaneeboy says:

Isn't it ironic, Euphro, that your Moblog is packed full of the most beautiful pictures of Antartic wastelands and it is this picture that gets a mention on the radio?

It's like 10,000 spoons when all you need is a fork.

28th Apr 2005, 16:35

Lyzardly says:

You never actually need a fork. I hear they don't use them at all in Brazil.

28th Apr 2005, 16:42

bronxelf says:

There is no spoon.

28th Apr 2005, 16:44

Lyzardly says:

Why does that sound familiar?

28th Apr 2005, 16:45

daz says:

I dropped a spoonful of Nutella on my laptop keyboard the other day.

28th Apr 2005, 16:47

bronxelf says:

Cant imagine.

28th Apr 2005, 16:47

Lyzardly says:

Daz - that's because there was no spoon to hold it in place.

28th Apr 2005, 16:49

daz says:

Probably, It was really tricky to clean, though. (actually, there is still some of it under the ALT GR key)

Euphro says:

Helen: As Joyce put it: "the ineluctable modality of being" or, for the rest of us, "that's life" :D

New keyboard should be here today though, yay!

Joe says:

I too hate my keyboard...I bought a cordless one and occasionally it just types random characters on it's own... :o ...quite scary when I'm sat there on my own late at night.

29th Apr 2005, 08:44

daz says:

That's why I refuse to get a cordless keyboard wth my Mac Mini (if I ever end up buying it... car is in need of some repairs my dad probably can't do... *sighs*).

McN says:

That's MY keyboard! And it survived having a whole mug of tea spilt on it a while ago, so I love it very much ; )

Tracy says:

One key has come off my Packard Bell Notebook and I can't work out how to get it back on - maybe its broken. Can you replace individual keys on laptops?

28th Apr 2006, 11:29

Euphro says:

If it was a Thinkpad, I'd say definitely yes. For other manufacturers I'd be a lot less sure :)
