Mog was a little spooked by the vacuum cleaner

She is still as jumpy as hell. She's met the vacuum cleaner lots of
times before. I think this is possibly the best action shot I have ever
taken. She was jumping backwards and landed very neatly on the big
bottle behind her.

That is fantastic!
(you haven't actually secretly wrapped nylon fishing wire round her neck and dangled her from above have you?!)

mat says:

Brilliant. And impressive, to land on something like that, backwards.

Helen says:

I was trying to get a picture of her attacking a plant (the Dyson made her jumpy and argumentative) and she shot off backwards. I didn't even see the action and was amazed when I saw what I had captured on my phone.

There are some benefits to having a very slow camera.

jaggysnake says:

Geeeenius! Are you sure you didn't stick her to the window with 'no more nails' or something equally as sticky?

29th Apr 2005, 18:18

Helen says:

I probably wouldn't have a face left if I tried something like that with a cat.

Although I'd have a bit more of a chance with Mog than Meg.

crickson says:

Great action shot!

Adam says:

She looks like Wily E. Coyote, who's just discovered that he's standing in mid-air, and promptly falls.

neel says:

I really wasn't sure if Mog had managed to squeeze herself into an open window, or something - there's absolutely no clue that she's moving at all. Quality stuff.

Joe says:

absolutely astounding!...either thats the best catblog I've ever seen or you're a photoshop uber god :D

Well I wouldn't mind being able to swap a little photographic integrity for such Photoshopping skills!

I'm good with Amiga Paint Pro.

neel says:

Ah. I was always a Deluxe Paint guy. Back in the days of Workbench...

29th Apr 2005, 22:06

Helen says:

Oh yeah, Deluxe Paint III.

I remember getting that. That was quite something.

Euphro says:

Just to add another WOW! That is an absolutely amazing shot. I'm speechless. She really looks like she is glued to the window :D

30th Apr 2005, 00:09

Euphro says:

What, as in rocket-propelled cat :D

30th Apr 2005, 00:13

Helen says:

I don't think Mog farts.

We feed her on dried stuff.

30th Apr 2005, 00:16

Euphro says:

I would have thought that would make farts more likely, given what happens when we eat the dehydrated food we have in the field in Antarctica :D

30th Apr 2005, 00:18

Helen says:

She supplements with plenty of fresh mouse and she drinks a lot.

billion says:

I guess you're pretty proud of this shot and rightly so, check out the response!

it's just mad how you've got such a great frame and composition from a spur-of-the-moment camera click and without any of the motion blur you usually associate with action shots.

everything's in its right place, it's perfect
