Expansive plans, don't you think? Just so unfortunate that the marine ecology is suffering and is going to suffer further long-term damage from all these 'wonderful' reclamation plans.

Not to mention the current 'speculations' floating around regarding sanitation issues for a certain 'tree island' and the premature structural 'problems' on said 'tree island'.

I'd like to know how traffic is going to be once people actually move into their *cough* large *cough* Palm Island villas. Wonder if that monorail will swing by there to cater for the bottlenecking?

Most of Palm Jumeriah is completed, with The World and the other Palms in full swing.

Edit: Recent Palm Jebel Ali with pretty picture: http://www.gulf-news.com/Articles/BusinessNF.asp?ArticleID=165230

I think it's wonderful in a sort of future culture cool kind of way. it's the sort of project a culture would undertake once it had achieved the demise of world hunger, had automated most forms of production and farming, and were almost a purely service oriented culture. So considering that we're not it's kind of wasteful.

but still cool...

and still wasteful.

Yep.

Pretty wasteful too, when you consider they built the "Tree" Jumeirah over natural reefs.

But it's okay! Really!

Because they've built *artificial* reefs to compensate.......
