shame... I don't have a panasonic camera either.. I did find these on ebay, which look pretty cool.
I can't really afford it, but I just bought one. Keep an eye on my moblog for sample shots when it arrives.. They have 2X teleconverters as well, but that was less tempting.

as for the converter - panasonics have a plastic non magnetic top cover, checked. instead there is a magnetic switch to turn off the inner screen.
