I'm a mobile and web busybody, blogger and mobile commentator type person.

I've created with friends three main websites which centre on community and the evolving use of mobile technologies, Moblog, We're not afraid and Stopped Clocks.

I set up Moblog with Mat Brown, and in 2006 the Moblog team was joined by Jonathan Allen,Ben Godfrey, and Lori Fischler. We also license mobile blogging technologies. A version of our moblogging platform powers UK broadcaster Channel 4's The Big Art Mob, and Strange Cargo's Other Peoples Photographs Too

Contact us about mobile blogging stuff, we're lovely to work with.

I enjoy speaking on the areas I'm interested in, and have presented or been a panel member at many conferences and debates around the areas I'm focused on, so get in touch if you'd like me to come to an event or conference you are organising.

alfie says:

if it has to be that way, it has to be that way - at least this way all JOe can do is covey my Giant Domo, and not claim it as rightful 30th birthday bounty ;)

Wooo! Someone else who smokes Marlboro Reds.

What's the book? The cover looks familiar but I can't read the name.

alfie says:

reds? Nah, there must be something weird with your scree, they be lights.

The book is infinitys shore by David Brin.

kostika says:

Hmmm..side of box looks red.

I've seen that in the bookstore. Sci-Fi isn't it? Any good?

7th Jul 2005, 09:13

alfie says:

Theyre pretty good yeah - Brin can get a bit plodding at times, but the Uplift Trilogy is a good read, apart from the talking monkeys of course. There's a scene in one of the books based in a monkey community, most specifically in a monkey strip joint. utterly terrifying.

kostika says:

Okay monkey communities might be a bit much for even me.

alfie says:

and dolphins that crew submarines. Yup.

7th Jul 2005, 09:23

kostika says:

Okay...Not serious sci-fi. You shoulda said so :o)

7th Jul 2005, 09:33

alfie says:

nono, very serious, and superbly crafted - it's just that the entire premise is based upon humans ability to 'uplift' their earthbound peers such as chimps and dolphins to full tool using sapience, There is a lot of interesting writing around the species and character possibilities Brin has extrapolated from different animal species./

7th Jul 2005, 09:36

kostika says:

Hmmm..maybe one for the future. But I'm still gonna have a hard time taking those monkeys seriously.
