The wind tunnel

This rather forbidding looking contraption, tucked away on a grim industrial
estate with Yarls Wood detention the wind tunnel where we flew
for the first time yesterday. It's an amazing experience and one I sadly
couldn't document. You can't so much as wear a wedding ring for fear of it
flying off, being recirculated by the giant turbine and coming back to have
your eye out, so no chance of going in with a camera.

However, the DVD
proves that I did indeed fly and, in my case, somewhat in the fashion of a
demented sparrow, forever sailing off higher than I should then dropping
back down to headbutt the windows. An amazing experience though, I highly
recommend, even if from the outside it looks and sounds like a low budget
sci-fi set.

Jane Doe says:

Was this a long-held ambition, or a spur of the moment thing?

OJ says:

Neither really. It was a gift to V, who has a long held ambition to jump out of a real plane.

I have NO ambitions to jump out of a real plane, but that looks like fun!

Likewise factotum, but it was incredibly fun. And I'm notoriously not good at enjoying things I'm no good at (see "demented sparrow" above).

Also, you got to see a bunch of skydivers who really did know what they were doing practicing. And they were amazing. Especially the Norwegian Ladies....

Oh wow! That looks fantastic! I want to be a demented sparrow :)

It was fun, I've got to say. Watched the DVD again last night and the demented sparrow bits were amusing. As were the bits where I got overexcited, forgot myself and appeared to be trying to swim...
