Skagway was a frontier town as it offered the closest (albeit treacherous) route to the Klondike. It was the biggest city in Alaska in the late 19th century, but now less that 1000 people live there, and mostly work in tourism.

1. Attempting to entice into the local burlesque show

2. A toilet in a gazebo. Not too sure why that was there...

3. The stretched limo kinda takes away from the whole "old" feel to the town

4. The Alaskan flag (big dipper with the Northern light) on a local museum.

5. weird flag pole

6. It's a good job they still had Starbucks 100 year ago...

7. snow-clearing train

8. The home of an old stone mason-style group, which appears to made out of macaroni

Yup, I believe so Mandy. Sorry; I'm using the post builder, and it seems to upload photos in a random order (rather than the order I upload), so didn't want to bullet-point information only to have to switch everything round again.

Swampy; yup, it was lawless. The things people do for a lump of shiny rock. Apparently the trail into the Klondike killed A LOT of prospectors.

That train looks more like a Decepticon to me...

Thanks :)

Crickson> Now you mention it, there is a certain amount of deceptacon to this train.

Swampy> I'd hate to see the mess a moose would make if it got in front of that thing!
